Biography

Samuel Tai

Born in Hong Kong, Samuel Tai Zheng Xiao (邰正宵) is a songwriter-cum-singer in Taiwan. In 1985, he went to Taiwan for his medical study. He sang in the cafe and pub weekly as a part time job. That was when he wrote 是雨还是眼泪 (one of my favourites, honest!).

Although it was hard, he continued with it. In 1988, Samuel participated in a contest, Band Exposure, with his schoolmates. He composed 无奈, which he won a prize for. Afetr that, he signed a contract with UFO Records. After 2 albums, he was still not popular.

After finishing his studies, he went back to Hong Kong and practised in a hospital. During that time, he wrote songs for the other singers like Jimmy Lin, Gloria Yip and Aaron Kwok. His compositions were then appreciated by Decca Records Taiwan, which gave him much effort and promotion in his album production.

In 1993, that he wrote 999 Roses (九百九拾九朵玫瑰), which turned out to be a huge success. Since then his songs started becoming more popular than ever.

In 1994, he released his second album 想你想得好孤寂, which made him famous in Hong Kong. Samuel is able to sing high pitch notes very well.

In 1995, he stared in the TV commercial of "Motorola Pagers 95". According to Samuel, he learnt a lot about acting in MTVs. He also wrote the theme song of the commercial, 心要让你听见.

Let us all hope that Samuel will write more great songs and become more successful!
