There
is no such thing as too much power in a great music playback system. In
fact, it is a lack of power that creates the edginess and audible distortions
heard in less than excellent playback systems. This is specifically why
Bob Carver made the Sunfire Stereo Amplifier a 300 watt per channel powerhouse.
Technologically speaking, Sunfire amplifiers are a step ahead of the competition. Bob Carver powers Sunfire amps with his Patented Tracking Downconverter power supply which is a truly revolutionary design. The Tracking Downconverter adjusts itself based on the amount of input signal coming in while traditional amplifiers simply run at full throttle all the time. The result is: Sunfire amplifiers can output tremendous amounts of power without extreme heat. At the same time, Sunfire amplifiers can honestly double their power ratings as speaker impedance drops. It is a very efficient design. Not all speakers are created equal. Some excellent loudspeakers need more power than others. Electrostatic/planar type speakers like Martin Logan or Magnepans can dip as low as one ohm while some dynamic loudspeakers, depending on the crossover technology and driver complement range from four to eight ohms impedance. The Sunfire Stereo amp can power them all with ease and increasing amounts of power as you need it.
