The Four

The earliest period of recorded history upon Panteron is known as the Age of Empires or alternatively the Age of the Four. The Four were four Empires which encompassed and fought each other for supremecy of the entire planet. Not a lot is known of this time and there has been some arguments that the Four were not in fact Empires but the Emperors that ruled them. Four tyrants or meglemaniacs who became known as the Four Dragons of the North, South, East and West.

It was an age of power that no one would ever see again but many would try to receate. The Four represented the epitome of strength and all creatures feared them. They were simply speaking power incarnate.

Recent research, however, has revealed that this Age was brought to an end by a fifth Dragon known as Cen Palorth or the Warrior of Heaven and Earth. Until recently it not known that there was a fifth Dragon. According to this research the Fifth Dragon challenged a creature of pure Chaos known only as the Leviathan. The summoning of and ensueing battle between the two, resulted in a shockwave that sent Panteron spinning into a terrible Ice age that lasted the next Forty years. A period of time that nearly destroyed all life.

The Dark Ages.

With the passing of the Ice age a new calendar was introduced (AI After Ice). In the first few hundred years After the Ice, the people struggled to rebuild what had once been. But these early pioneers lacked the Pure strength, and support that the Four Dragons (now disappeared) had once possessed. As such each of the Four Empires crumbled as they were divided and subdivided until only traces of what had been remained to remind us of their one time grand legacy.

This new age was a time of War and of brutal violence. Minor kingdoms fought to build new Empires each struggling to reclaim the old Empires for themselves. They used some of the old weapons of war, which had survived the ice. Terrible Artifacts of science and magic once wielded by the Four Dragons to destroy entire Kingdoms and armies. However, the people of this time did not understand the nature of these artifacts and abused their power which threatened to tear the Panteron apart.

Carnoth.

In the end it was a man named Carnoth who brought an end to the Dark Ages. Carnoth was a Weaver, one of the few men and women blessed with the ability to manipulate the threads that bind the Universe. A skill known to some as Sorcery. Carnoth was visited by a vision and was instructed to collect all of the Artifacts from the time of the Four and dispose of them. It was a quest as long as life itself and consumed him for many years. He bargained where he could pursueded those who would listen, stole from those who would not and slowly but surely collected each of the artifacts into his keeping.

As such he grew to understand the forces that bind he Universe with a clarity few had ever attained since AI. His power grew, but he remained true to his quest although the power needed to destroy these artifacts was beyond even his power. So he sealed them away in a pocket realm known now as the Vault of Carnoth. Once his quest had been completed the man himself vanished quietly into obscurity.

The focus of the following history resides within the Former Empire of Osland (Once one of the Four), where much of the campaign continued. Of the other three Empires Mayerth, Grand Clericy of Seldon Hawk and Osheaon little was heard as they too dealt with their internal affairs.

The Age of Growth - Palorthia

The next few years were kind to Panteron as nature restored a balance. Finally the threats that the Four had created were disposed of and the land prospered. Kingdoms grew as did Empires, war still existed but not upon the same scale as that previously visited.

In the North where the former Empire of Osland had once existed a new Empire Palorthia grew and thrived. A land of Chivalry and Honor it's nobles slowly claimed the surrounding lands until it and slowly but surely it grew much to the envy of other Kingdoms and Empires. It crossed the Dratarian planes, conquering Anarc, Bayerth, occupying Kel Tarath and even destroyed the evil of the Claw of Athar.

But with this last conquest led to the downfall of Palorthia, as politics and corruption tainted the once great people. The stench of Athar crept throughout the Empire and its people grew cruel and overly righteous. Civil war broke out on a scale never before seen and the Palorthian Empire all but collapsed into what is know known as the Nine Realms.

The threat of Vilsery- Osland

Far South of the Nine Realms the remains of what had once been the mighty Empire of Osland tried feebly to reclaim that which it had once possessed. Osland once one of the Four had a tenuous period of growth, The name which had once inspired fear throughout the world was much coveted. But it lacked the strength and power it had once wielded. With no single hand to guide it to its former glory it remained tainted by corruption and become little more of a joke to surrounding Kingdoms.

But close by one of Osland's allies the Crystal Empire found themselves at war with a mysterious evil in the form of the Kingdom of Stone. Led by a dark and sinister creature of Death known as Lord Vilsery. Himself a force of darkness that could not be stopped.

All seemed lost until a Crystal Warrior- Crystan lured Vilsery's darkest servant Dracna (An ancient red Dragon) and sacrificed himself by entrapped them both in a crystal tomb. In doing so Vilsery too became trapped within his fortress, since Dracna possessed a key that allowed Vilsery to survive outside of his fortress. Hence an uneasy peace fell over the land whilst Lord Vilsery quietly bided his time.
