Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal 69th Peetathipathi (Pontiff) of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam. He joined the Peetam in 1954. He has involved himself with many social upliftment projects, and helped the Sankara Mutt contribute a lot towards the cause of Education. It has been under his guidance that the Vishwa Mahavidhyalaya has been established in Kanchipuram.  Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal The Successor designate to the Peetam. He joined the Peetam at the age of 14 in the year 1983. He has contributed a lot to the religious, cultural, and social programs of both his predecessors.
