Handloom The dyed silk yarn and the Jari are weaved together in beautiful patterns on a hand loom. For centuries, Silk centers in the state of Tamilnadu (Kanchipuram, Arni, etc.) have been using handlooms. Modern technology has not yet penetrated into these regions. Every silk saree made and sold in Tamilnadu contains the hard work and genius of the handloom weaver in it. The weaving process extends over weeks, sometimes months. Handlooms are usually loaded to produce 18 yards of the final product. This is later cut into either three sarees of 6 yards each, or two sarees of 9 yards each.
