About Hyde - the vocalist of L'Arc~en~Ciel
( L: This magazine shows a picture of Hyde during junior high school ^.^ ,his favorite Junior High School teacher, and the shop his parents own - "APPLES" ^_^)

- In Hyde's hometown Wakayma City (L: in which they had their live there on 5/7/98), his parents own a shop called "APPLES"
(L: Actually, full name is "PUB HOUSE APPLES" - as seen from picture ^_^;) It was named after The Beatles's Record label. Hyde's father is a fan of Beatles.
- Hyde used to wear this color shirt and a little neck tie when he was a kid. He would sit at the front of the store's counter and he would go out with him Mom.
- Hyde's Mom "Hyde was very shy when he was little. But he was also a very good child."
- After Hyde started practicing that Shaolin Martial Arts (His Dad pushed him to do so because he was such a crying worm) in Gr. 5, his personalities changed and he begin to make many friends. (L: I heard that he is in "3rd-dan". A friend of mine who practices Shaolin says that it is very high level )
- Hyde's teacher Magamikyooko Sensei "Of course I remember him! He has a very cute face and he was especially popular among girls. While everyone was struggling to write the entrance exam of High School, his study habit was completely 'My Pace'. At that time, he was so determined to study art design"
- Magamikyooko Sensei: "After graduation, I saw him riding a bike with a big rucksack behind him. He also had a bandana on his head too! ^_^; I asked him 'What are you doing now?' he said 'I'm going to study art design. But as for how am I going to do it, I'm still at the point of thinking.' so I said to him 'If you ever want to have a talk, you can always come to school or to my house to find me.' and he said 'Yes! I will!' and went off with his bike."
- During the first "Band Boom" around Wakayama City, Hyde formed an amateur band and he was the leader. (This was before he headed to Osaka) This time (5/7/98) Laruku is going to have their Live here in Wakayama, it is going to be a return in triumph.
- Hyde's father "After he had graduated, he worked part time in our own store too. At the same time, he practiced with his band. I was quite worried about him. But he is a boy who put a lot of interest and effort in all the things he do. Now he got famous and well-known, I'm even more worried. It is a very strict world out there..."

CONFESSION ~
Lourdes finally saw the true colored pix of the photo that the tabloid magazine had posted about Hyde and
his girlfriend. (Thanks to Bee~~) In that picture, Hyde was actually alone. That girl just passed by him.
She looked as if she was in a hurry while Hyde was just walking by himself carrying some grocery bags.
Now L is ashamed that she had posted the translation before...aiya....hontoo ni gomen ne! m_ _m

Interviewer: How ya doin' these days?
Hyde: These days...Spring time already!..
I: I see that you've cut your hair.
H: Yes! I cut it during the end of month.
I: Well...the end of March?
H: Now it's still April... (implying that: What do you think? of course it was during the end of March! @_@)
I: Yeah, that's right.
H: Well, since it is spring time....I suddenly had this wild thought of making it short. So I got this cut ^_^
Yukihiro: Everyday, I "feel" Spring. ^_^
I: How?
Y: When I was walking on the streets, there was a whole bunch of High School girls
and I could hear them saying "It's Spring time ne!"
Tetsu: You standing very close to them?? (laughs)
Y: Well, when it is not Spring time and walking on the streets I would still hear those High School girls giggling "It's Autumn ne?!"
K: High school girls again??
Y: Yup! And so I would casually answer them "Yes, it is Autmn." (everyone laughs)

I: How are the next singles going to be like (L: They didn't say which is which)
T: One is by Hyde and another is by Ken. ^_^
Y: Hmm....it's Punk.
H: Yes, that's right! There would be a little Japanese (Oriental) elements as well.
T: Also RAP.
I: First challenge isn't it? Rap?
H: It is ALL in English! I have always studied English but this time it is TOTALLY and COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!! @__@

(L: They consider the little monologue in English of Kasou is rap??? ?_?)

I: When you guys are tired, how do you release stress?
H: Hmm.....by hugging a girl. (L: hahahahaha!!!!!!!)
T: I agree ne! (laughs) When you're both physically and mentally tired, you need someone to lean on.
Y: I would do nothing.
K: Relax..hmm....hmm...
I: Slowly relax yourself?
K: Nope! I'm a very impatient person. I'm always like "What's next? What shall we do next? What? What? "...^^;;; I guess maybe I don't feel stressful at all. ^_^

and cut them short Y_Y) This little chat of Hyde and Tetsu and might give us a tiny little bit of hint...^^ Anyone knows the song "Ginza no koi no monogatari"? (Ginza's Love Story)

talking about the song "22 sai no wakare" (The 22 yrs old good bye)...
Tetsu: That's a dark song, I like it. I sing it in Karaoke.
Hyde: Me, I sing "Ginza no koi no monogatari". BUT! Everytime I sing this song, Tetsu would get into a really bad mood and
then wanting to go home.

L: Get well soon Hyde!!
Reporter: How are you these days?
Hyde: These days I'm...*cough* *cough* *cough* ^^;;;;
R: Woo woo...Are you all right?
H: I'm getting a little bit better... When the TOUR just started I caught a cold...it was a *long* cold..Y_Y
About 2~3 days. Now I'm left with this cough..what a terrible time Y_Y When I slept in the futon I sweat
and I get better.
I went to the doctor and I didn't get well. I drank the medicine and it didn't do me any good either!
My body...although it is not in a very good shape, but I don't worry much..I worry about my throat.
Lucky that I didn't lost my voice. But I don't think it'll
happen because when my body gets warm, it is very easy for me to sing ^_^. So, when I'm hot and I can sing,
it is like I'm in a scene of fire and I'm full of power!! (L: you know..like the power and will to escape from fire.)
My mind would also become high ne!

~Tetsu Talk to Myself~ Fun Highlights

- "I have lots of clothes that I don't know how to put them properly! (already own one closet set and 3 drawers)"
- "I don't really like perfume. All the make-up I use are fragrance-free ^_^"
- "I always over pack for trips. I always pack my own shampoo because the ones in hotel are always out of stock. The 3 items I always bring are: walkman, discman and mineral water (esp. in Morocco!)"
[L: L'Arc~en~Ciel went to Morocco to take the shooting of "Siesta~film of dreams". They said they had a terrible time there.
According to the members, the food was bad, water was bad and everywhere there was this smell they couldn't stand!
And people there thought they were Jacky Chan and constantly asked Ken and Tetsu to show some Kung-fu..^^;; ]
- "There's one time during the live schedule where we had to stay in one place for a long period. I ran out of clothes and had to wear the T-shirts from the L'Arc goods." (Yes yes!! I saw you wearing the L'Arc T-shirt in Tour 98 again!! That's why I bought one myself
too!! ^_-)
- He always wonder why Hyde's luggage is so light!! (when comparing to himself.^^;)
- He did part time colorfares in quite a few tv dramas. At that time, the producer asked him if he would like to be an actor (cuz he got the looks?? ^^;), but he refused and said he had no interest. Now he thinks about it, "That was actually not a bad idea
at all ne! haha!"
- First time on stage - 14 yrs old
- "I'm not nervous on stage because I have total confidence ^_^"
- "Among the members, I'm NOT the most H (look at manager, check for agreement). I'm just a healthy normal guy.
Compare to members I really am not the H -est, really. (again look at the manager for agreement) ^^;;;;;;;;
- "In one hotel, there's no bathroom within the bedrooms. So all 4 of us (Hyde, Sakura, Ken and him) would all go to the
public baths together!"
- "I wear trunks. I'm wearing trunks right now! However, when it comes to photo shooting, I wear briefs.
It is much easier to change
clothes in briefs. (esp. when I change into tight pants). Oh, I didn't buy all these underwear, they are gifts (L: ^^;;;;;;;;;;;;;;).
- "L'Arc~Can was Hyde's original idea I think ^_^"
- "I buy clothes in Shibuya or Shinjuku. My body is small so....I have many girl clothes"

~Stuff that Lourdes picked up while "stand reading" n-number of new/old magazines or from friends in Japan ^o^~

- Kasou was orginally the c/w of HONEY
- It was the staff who decided to release 3 singles at once, not L'Arc.
- One time in encore (Heavenly period) Hyde was standing beside the drumset smoking. When
Sakura returned, Hyde handed the cigarette to Sakura right away and Sakura continued with the remaining cigarette!!!
(a.k.a the "indirect kiss" ^o^;;)
- In small live houses where the stage and fans are so close, Hyde was so hot and fans fanned him ^_^ Hyde then took
a fan from the fans and ran over to the side to fan Tetsu!! Kawaii~~~~!!!
- "I liked boys when I was in kindergarten/elementary school. My first kiss was given to a boy (L: so is Junji of Laputa!!!!)
It was grade 3 and there was this very very cute boy sitting in the front. Therefore even now, I sometimes kiss Hyde on stage too!
And because of the makeup, Hyde would have my kiss mark on his face. ^-^" ~ Tetsu from Rock IT! 1993 August Special Issue.
(L: One time in LIVE fans really did see Hyde having a kiss mark right on his cheek!! Fans screamed
crazily and thought that was from a girl...until the release of the article above and fans concluded that that was Tetsu's. ^~^)
- In old days where members had to share hotel rooms (2 per room) Ken revealed that it was a nightmare to share a room
with Tetsu!! When Tetsu sleeps, ken said, he would make incredible loud noises thru his teeth!!!! (L: Hahahaha!!!) For the whole
night!! Ken said he wanted to commit suicide...because he wasn't able to sleep..^^;; (L: so exaggerate ^^;). Tetsu couldn't
believe it and asked Hyde, Hyde said "hee hee..yeah...when I share a room with you...I need ear plugs.."
- (from TV "Utaban") Shinshoku~lose control~ was actually played in the movie Godzilla!! A very very tiny little part...
The part where there are workers in the fish factory or something...^^;;; Gosh....
- L'Arc's tour good items have become so wide range. Other than the L'Arc~cream and the "essentials" in L'Arc~can, they now
have oil blotting papers, body shampoos, and even cameras!!!!
- In the Hawaii~en~Ciel (Fan Club Event), Hyde presented his long time ago, super old, worn many times on
stage white "gown" to a lucky fan.. He said "I'm not going to have any chance to wear it again, so I'm now giving it out."
(L: ;_; Haido..how could you?? ... I feel sad after reading that.....)
- About Tokyo Dome live Video (WOWOW):
At the begining of the video, there's a long black & white intro. There were originally 2 versions. hyde sat there and watched both and decided to use the black & white one. Also, the rainbow spotlight colors in Niji was decided at the last minute, just right before the show commenced.
(L: gosh..my friend is just so lucky...she gotta be the staff of the TD live. Sigh..how I wish i could
do that!)

Something about Tetsu and Mochida Kaori-chan of ELT...

(L: gomen ne Tetsu...but hey...it was you who gave us the 'clues' at first ah!!)

In Ciel Press, (Official Press of L'Arc~en~Ciel's Fan Club), there is this column called "L'Ar~QUIZ~Ciel" where a
member asks a random question to fans. A prize (usually prepared by member) would be given to the fan who could answer the question.
In Vol. 13, the following question was asked by Tetsu:

"I had a dream one night. In my dream, I went to a convienient store. Then I saw they had this 'Limited Editions Only
CD + ????'s Figure' for sale. I was like 'What?? wah!! Limited Editions?? I wanna buy~~~!!!'. Just when I wanted to grab
it, I woke up from my dream. So, the question is, who is the figure/doll based on??"

Hint 1: This doll doesn't really exist.
Hint 2: It is a vocalist of a group.

Then in Vol. 14 of Ciel...the answer was released.....I'm sure all of you know who that is, right??

Personal Interview: Hyde
- Do you sing at home?
"I sing in the studio but I don't do any personal practice. I only sing when we're rehearsing or having a concert..etc.
- Do you listen to any Japanese Musicians?
"No, I don't listen much. The time when I was switching from a guitarist to a vocalist, I listened to GASTUNK. Yeah...
for Japanese band, that was about it...GASTUNK.
- Why did you switch to be a vocal?
"At first, I thought being a vocalist is very uncool, but after I tried it and sang a little, I gained confidence."
- How long have you been singing?
"About 10 years already."
- You've said before, "I don't wanna be a musician who sings love songs only".
"Yeah..I think that's because I don't like the majority of the American feel of music. Long time ago I used to very simply listen to American Hard Rock. They were (and some still is) all about 'How's SHE? What to do? Should I chase after her?....' things like that...-_-.
I have no interests in such things whatsoever...so I want to do things that's outside of that..more than love.."
- So what's your ideal image of a vocalist?
"Hmm...how can I say this...not like human..yeah...I want to be a vocalist that has an inhuman feel...fufufu.."
- Inhuman feel????
"A Scary scaaaary person...(laughs)..like dracula, like goblins...I want to be a scary person...with blood that's black.."
"I love horrifying things....that's what I have the greatest interests in..."
"Like for L'Arc~en~Ciel, we display the 7 colors..but inside we have black blood...such a hidden...mysterious feel..I like it.."

"Now that L'Arc~en~Ciel has gained popularity and even reached no. 1 on the charts, but in Japan...artists who are famious are never well known or noticed outside the country...It is such a sad thing to me...we're like "the frog under the well" (A chinese proverb
which means "you're limited to the outside world")....People In America or England or other countries doesn't care about no. 1 in Japan... I don't wanna have a feeling like that...I wanna expand...I want to be proud of our Japanese music...proud to be no.1...I don't want people to think Japanese Music is childish."

Yuki: This gum bracelet. I've been wearing it for over a year now. You see, leather bracelets stinks, metal bracelets I have allergic to...
and therefore I found this. ^_^ I wear it even when I go to have a bath. The number of these gum bracelets I own is increasing ne~
Tetsu: I wear this leather bracelet. Mine has good smell!! (really smells it to make sure..^^;) It has a shampoo smell. ^_^ I've
been wearing this since last year's August. My friend has the same one. The leather changed color and the smell gradually
comes out..wah...so cool!!
Hyde: Cellular phone, wallet, and tabacco....whenever I leave home, I always check these 3 things. If I leave home
without cigarettes, I would die on the streets....
Ken: Me, earring and necklace and bracelet...I've been wearing them for 4 years..

Any superstitious stuff you do?
Tetsu: none
Yuki: none
Ken: none
Hyde: none. But in the beginning of live, we gather together and stand in a Japanese "en" pattern...we all have our hands together and go "O~~!!"
Ken: yeah yeah!!

What would you name your children?
Hyde: I want an old fashion name like....
Ken: Himiko! (L: Himoko was written in kanji. She was a historical figure in Japan.)
Hyde: No, a simple name. Say, if the baby is born on May (Go-gatsu), the name would be
"Go-gatsu" Hmm..it is not too good to have too many strokes.
Ken: I have never thought of such things. For Kanji (L: In the Chinese & Japanese culture. The number of strokes, the word choice..etc..are very important when it comes to naming a baby.)
I would leave it to "Shi-Chuu-Sui-Mei". (L: It is like the "Tong Sing" of Chinese...^^)
Tetsu: I would chose Japanese/Oriental names ne! For a baby boy I would call him "??" (L: I REALLY have no idea how to romanize that) and for a baby girl I would call her "Kazuko".
Yuki: Haven't thought of it yet. I haven't think of making babies yet.

If you can change to be born again, you wanna be a girl or a boy?
Hyde: Man. It hurts to give birth to babies.
Yuki: If I can't go back to what I am now, then..girl. The taste of being a different sex..I wanna try that! ^^;
Ken: That's disgusting..^^;;
Yuki: A little risky ne..^^;;
Ken: Man. I don't like the feeling of down/depressed every once a month. (L: err....)
Tetsu: Man. Women have too much to "cover"...that's no fun!!! I like to "reveal" myself a lot
