"Hanyaaan!"
Sakura-chan.
Main character of the series (well duh), Card Captor extraordinaire, and my LIAC (though that isn't important ^^;)
What to say about Sakura? First off, she's kawaii. Definitely. Next to purple, green is my favourite eye colour. And I like her hair colours both in the anime and manga...I got 'auburn' hair from dark brown and strawberry blond in my fics by mixing and imagination. *g* Add those cute looks to an even cuter personality, and you've got one heck of a lovable female lead. I personally don't think anyone could take a real dislike to Sakura, she's just too sweet. Or maybe that's it--some diabetic grouches can't handle the sugary-ness. *pokes Jacky and whistles*
Besides being sweet, I like the fact that Sakura is also extremely athletic, possessed of a fair amount of common sense, and quite capable of coping with difficult circumstances on her own most of the time. Best of all, she's not a waterspout-crybaby like a certain meatball-headed sailor senshi. She's dense, yes, but she's *far*, far more likable and easier appreciated right from the beginning than your usual mahou-shoujo lead.
Sakura-chan has got a lot of other good character traits--she's extremely tolerant of her friends' little idiosyncrasies (look how she puts up with Tomoyo's V8 and those outfits), she's ever-genki without being annoying, she's determined, straightforward, generous, just to name some. Easy to see why so many people are fond of her--she gives virtually everyone caring and warmth without expecting anything in return. She's that easy to love. ^__^ (ne Syaoran?)
I don't think Sakura-chan has bad points, at least not what could be construed as 'bad'. True, she's scared silly of the mere mention of ghosts, but's that hardly a character flaw. She doesn't like Maths (but who in hell would fault her for THAT?)...nah, if there's anything lacking in her personality, it's the fact that she's just too painfully, innocently dense, as mentioned above. Man, she doesn't even realise Tomoyo's in love with her, no wonder she can't see Syaoran's also crushing big-time on her. ^___^; This denseness is a big part of what makes Sakura our beloved Sakura, yes, but it's also the main reason why so many Supporters Of Syaoran's Love Conquest For Sakura have bashed our heads out of shape against concrete while paging through the more recent tankoubon. (Heavens, Sakura-chan, he was saying your NAME! What did you think that word was, 'Sayonara'?!)
*koff* Sorry. I get a little agitated sometimes. ^^;
And whenever I compare Sakura to a good number of mahou-shoujo leads, especially Cha Cha from Akazukin Cha Cha, she *always* wins. I've got nothing against Cha Cha, just that Sakura has this nameless quality about her that Cha Cha doesn't (and never will :p) have. More charisma, better looks *g*, cooler powers at her disposal--call it whatever you like, she's just a cut above your average kiddy heroine. ^___^v (so I might be biased,...XD *runs away from rocks thrown by enraged ACC fans*)
Sakura's just different--she's got the *attitude*, baby!
sakura and syaoran
The famed S-and-S of a good portion of my travails into CCS fic-writing. *gryn* I just adore these two darlings. I don't know, whenever I look at them I get this feeling they're so *right* for each other, y'know? That's just sappy ol' Shi-chan--she sees these two persons, suddenly her internal Love-O-Meter shoots up into the hundreds, and you know she's hooked. ^_^ C'mon, don't you think they look great together? I especially like their complimentary hair and eye colours. ^_^ *fufu*
It's been argued that this relationship is purely one-sided as it's mainly Syaoran who does all the crushing on Sakura, but I beg to point out that if Sakura is still in la-la land where *Tomoyo* is concerned, that isn't a valid point. (jeepers, if she can't get something *that* obvious, there's absolutely no way she'd be capable of divining Li-kun's real feelings... o_o) Right now our Innocent And Sweet Heroine treats him as a close friend, but there's lots of potential for that to change...^__^ (that is, if CLAMP doesn't kill either one of them off at the end -_-;;)
I'm still hoping for her to wake up one day and blush too...^_^
read a response I got to this. ^_^
sakura and tomoyo
As Mei-chan remarked in a discussion on the CCSYYML:
"I think Sakura doesn't really understand Tomoyo as a whole (nor does she
attempt to), and the scenes when Tomoyo lets her mask slip confuse her more than ever...like in tankoubon seven with the loved one's happiness speech. The point is that I think that Tomoyo is a completely different person when she's away from Sakura, and it's there that her true character can begin to emerge..."That just about sums up what everything I wanted to say but didn't know how to. :)
Sakura is extremely fond of Tomoyo, but she doesn't - or perhaps cannot understand her. She doesn't get why Tomoyo likes to film her, or why Tomoyo thinks she's the World's Cutest Thing, or even why she likes to design her battle costumes. She only knows Tomoyo is putting out so much effort *for* her and is too kind-hearted to voice any discomfort on her part. Heck, she isn't even aware of how Tomoyo really feels about her. That is perhaps the biggest block for their relationship to develop into anything beyond close friendship. Sakura-chan only views Tomoyo as a dear friend who cares very much about her and so cares for her in return. End of story.
Sorry, TxS fans. :p
In closing, I don't care if anyone thinks she's cotton candy personified--I love Sakura-chan and that's an end to it. :)
