Stuff I Love: loud classical music, competions, enormous cathedrals, trying on fancy dresses, inside jokes, boxes, anything in miniature, proving people wrong,
the smell of cinnamon, castles, doing things I thought were impossible, Jolly Joes, black and white photos, accents, people who radiate all kinds of beauty (haven't found too many, and I'm still trying to become one of those people)
Stuff I Could Live Without: people who are rude, judgemental, heartless, complainers, fake, self-centered, boring, arrogant, racist, and generally NOT NICE!
My Biggest Beliefs: Nothing is impossible
You create your own destiny
Everything happens for a reason
Miracles happen every day
Nothing is hopeless
If you think something is impossible, it is
There is no greater feeling than doing what someone said you'd never do
Beauty is in the eyes, ears, heart, mind, and soul of the beholder
I walked into a ballet studio for the first time on June 11, 1996. That saying that you don't choose dance, dance chooses you must be right because I have no idea why I started classes, but I haven't stopped since. When you start ballet at fifteen people familiar with the dance world love to share their opinions on your future. I heard it all. I was "too old, too tall, too heavy, not flexible enough, not strong enough, not dedicated enough, not rich enough, not the right look, etc." I would "never go en pointe much less ever get into any reputable company". Anyway, I'm working on proving them wrong. I absolutely adore dancing and can't imagine why I didn't start any earlier. I haven't had any major dance-related injuries yet (knock on wood) but I did come very close to breaking my thumb in class once (don't ask!). I'm taking four to six hours of classes each week. I'd love to do more but I'm really busy with other stuff and there just isn't enough time.
Besides ballet, I'm also very involved with playing the flute and piccolo. I'm in my high school's marching band, which happens to be one of the top twenty in Texas (just thought I'd mention that). I wouldn't say that marching is easier than ballet but it's kind of less stressful because if you make a mistake there's two hundred other people other people on the field to hide it. We have a lot of fun out there. It's like one huge family.
When I have spare time (which is like, never) I love to paint, draw, glue, and generally make messes. I can paint a ballerina on shirts, bags, boxes, and just about anything else, so if you'd like me to make something special for you just email me. I can also make a ballerina out of pretty much any animal. People tell me I'm good and frankly, I'm not going to argue with them. (Just kidding.)
Anyway, I hope you've enjoyed learning a little about me. I'll try to get my picture on here soon in case anyone is obsessed with stuff like that.
