Welcome to the updated site of Youth Choir Zottegem. On this site you will find everyting you ever wanted to know about us. This Engish version is still very limited. For a full edition of this site, choose the Dutch version.
This site started on april the 18th, 1998. As far as we know, we were the first Belgian youth choir to be on the Internet ! As we are still working on this site, and updating in regulary, we advise you to come back from time to time, and to add this site to your bookmarks.

What are we doing ?
This might seem a silly question. A choir is singing, what else ? Well, a lot ! We are doing more :
- Every month we prepare a youthconcelebration. We study the
bibletexts, we choose a theme, we write our own texts, we choose
the songs, we prepare a visual support ... .
- We sing marriages, Taizé-evenings, concerts ... .
- We have our own members magazine : a booklet which appears
every two months, full of nice articles.
- And above all, we have those extra activities which make our
choir to be more than a bunch of people singing apart together. We
are a real group, and we are proud of that. Our choir is unique,
the strenght of the group is bigger than anywhere else !
Who is in our choir ?
These are the members of our choir :
- Director : Jan De Sutter.
- Soprano : Leen De Corte, Evelien De Corte, Mieke De Corte, Rika Eylenbosch, Evita Goossens, Lieselot Meuleneire, Ilse Roels, Anne De Sutter, Delphine Van Lancker, Evelyn Soetaert, Katlijn Vanommeslaeghe, Sigrid Herreman, Janina De Wael.
- Alto : Ellen De Corte, Leen Nachtergaele, Tineke Van Craenenbroeck, Annelies Smolders, Lieve Vandesande, Leen Van De Voorde, Lut Wanzeele, Cindy De Smet, Severine De Smet.
- Tenor : Koen Eylenbosch, Stefan Van De Voorde, Patrick Maton.
- Bass : Koen Penninck, Bart Nachtergaele.
- Instruments : Marijke Van Melckebeke, Geert Baekelandt.

In march 1970, Youth Choir Zottegem started. This means we are cellebrating our 30th anniversary this year. The choir came out of the FT-club here in Zottegem. Our first director was Guy Walraevens. He left the choir in 1980, sending us Jan De Sutter, our present director.
The first priest that helped us out was Amand Durieu. He ment a lot for the choir, he made us big. He was the one that really formed the group to what it is today. Later on, we worked together with Frans Hitchinson, Erwin Lammens and now with Walter Van Wouwe. In the church of Zottegem we delt with priests De Boe, Drossens and now Karel Cottenie, since 1992.
Some people do all the work : creating lettres, organising all kind of things, phoning and running from here to there : Martine Brusselman, Lut Wanzeele and Leen Van De Voorde were the ones we knew.
Spoken of instruments, we allways had a guitar and an organ. We used to have a clarinet and a cello, but we now changed it for a flute and a drum.

Do you want Youth Choir Zottegem to perform for you ? No problem ! Just send us a mail with all the things we need to know to contact you ( name, adress, phone, e-mail ... ) and everything will be fixed for you. What does it cost ? We normally ask € 150-200 for a concert in Belgium, adding of course the costs of transport. For concerts in other countries, we can work something out.
