Jean-Pierre Trevisani



  Born in Spain of French parents, Jean-Pierre Trevisani grew up in Colombia where his parents moved after a few years in France. Bilingual in French and Spanish from birth, Mr. Trevisani added English, Italian, Catalan and German during his High School years. His inclination for Science led him to Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts where he obtained Summa Cum Laude degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. It was during his final years in Worcester that he took up singing and joined the WPI Glee Club. After early voice lessons with Ruth Cooper, he received his musical and operatic training at the New England Conservatory and at the Boston University Opera Institute. It was there that he started to study with Soprano Sharon Daniels, his current teacher. In 1996 he moved to Paris where he is a member of the very select Centre de formation lyrique de l'Opéra National de Paris.

  During his time in Massachusetts, Mr. Trevisani was frequently a guest of Choruses and Orchestras in works that include Verdi's Requiem, Rossini's Stabat Mater and Handel's The Messiah. He also participated in tours across the United States, Canada, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Spain. In 1994 he created the role of John Craig in the world première of the opera Freshwater by Andy Vores. In the same year, he performed the role of Rodolfo in Puccini's La Bohème with Longwood Opera. It was also as Rodolfo that he appeared with the Internationaal Opera Centrum Nederland in Amsterdam, The Netherlands in July 1995. Returning to Boston, Mr. Trevisani was Roméo in Boston University Opera Theater's production of Gounod's Roméo et Juliette. He then traveled to Saint Louis, Missouri to cover Prunier in Puccini's La Rondine for the Opera Theater of Saint Louis. A Finalist at the 8th Enrico Caruso International Tenor Competition in Milan, Italy, he is the 1995 New England Regional winner of the New York Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.

  Since his arrival in Paris, Mr. Trevisani has given numerous concerts throughout France. Notably, he made his debut with the Opéra National de Paris as the Erste Ritter in Wagner's Parsifal. With the same company he covered the title role in Gounod's Faust as well as the Duke in Verdi's Rigoletto. He was invited to sing at the prestigious Festival d'Art Lyrique et de Musique d'Aix-en-Provence and then at the Septembre Musical de l'Orne where he sang Les Nuits d'été of Berlioz. Mr. Trevisani's singing has been broadcast by WGBH and WCRB radio in Boston, France Musique, TSF and FR3 television.

  In the current season with the Opéra National de Paris, along with various concerts, Mr. Trevisani will be Gastone in Verdi's La Traviata and participate in the World Première of Salammbô by Fénelon. In Grenoble, he will be the guest of the Orchestre National de Lyon to sing the Duke in excerpts of Rigoletto. He will also travel to Japan to sing in Poulenc's Dialogues des Carmelites under the baton of Seiji Ozawa. In September, he is Don José in Bizet's Carmen at the Septembre Musical de l'Orne. Soon after he will sing the Verdi Requiem in Chateauroux and then in Paris's world famous Saint Germain des Prés. In the '98 -  '99 season at the Opéra National de Paris, he will be heard in Don Carlo, Rigoletto, The Magic Flute, Parsifal, and The Merry Widow.
