An Oak Grove Meditation
by Menolly Oak and Addara
Welcome to The Forest House. Find a spot to sit under the Oaks.. in
the dappled afternoon shade. Enjoy the peace that is offered.. and enjoy the company. Let
this place be yours and thank you for being a part of it
Please seat yourself comfortably
Place both your feet on the floor in front of you
Now.....take a deep cleansing breath
Let it out slowly
Feel you body relax, as you tension leaves with your breath.
Feel the energy of each deep breath entering your body.
As the love enters your very being and embrace the Peace and Love in the universe.
Let it caress your soul.
continue to breathe.. quietly through your nose
slowly relaxing every muscle
and come and join me as I walk through this wondrous forest
You are standing on a path... surrounded by trees
the sun speckles the floor as it drifts down through the leaves of the canopy above you
the temperature is just comfortable.. not too hot.. not too cool... but for you the one
you would find the most enjoyable. There is a gentle breeze that caresses your skin ....
Look....
upwards, you notice that the leaves gently wave at you to notice them....
let your gaze drift around the canopy above your head and notice little things....
a few acorns, still attached to a branches
a birds nest... nestled in a fork
a squirrel.. jumping from one tree to another
the leaves.... varying in shape and size.. for this forest contains trees of many sorts...
all vying for
the sun.. each supporting its neighbor. ..as a unit...sense harmony that is found in those
treetops
let your gaze gently travel down to shoulder height
look around.... and see young saplings.. vieing with each other...and their bigger parents
for space
see the bushes...lush in their greenery
Listen.....
hear the tapping of a woodpecker...
hear the melody of the trees... as their branches gently rub each other...
and the leaves ruslting....
the call of the bluebird....
the trill of the swallow...
the gentle call of the whiporwill....
Feel the breeze....
gently caressing as it brings you the smells of the earth...
the musty smell of leaves that have fallen to return nourishment to the earth...
the sweet smell of blossoms from the scattered fruit trees...
the "green" smell of new growing things...
the gentle scent of violets growing wild.... scattered along the path...
Listen ... and hear the movement of small animals.
and notice... a chipmunk.. playing tag.. with another ..
glance over.... and notice a butterfly.... gently moving among the blossoms of the
scattered
wildflowers
a movement startles you.... and you see.. in the distance.. a deer bound into view.... and
stop and
stare at you with liquid eyes searching for and finding the peace within you
it acknowledges that .. then moves on.
enjoy this place ... let its peacefulness fill you... relax... let the turmoil of the day
go... let the anger
and the hurt.. dissipate in the soothing sounds and smells of the earth..
appreciate the gifts of the earth as you slowly .... very slowly let all go.... to enjoy
that peace
You hear the cry of the wolf... letting you know that all is well... and he is guarding
you...
and that knowledge.. that there is someone who will be watchful allows you to fully let
go.. and be
one with nature
and let the peace of this Forest .. enter you.. and replenish you..
We are grateful,
O Mother Earth
For the mountains
and the streams
For the tall pine forests
For the deciduous Trees
For the majestic Oaks
For the deer who wander your trails
For the birds with their joyful song
For the noble wolf who guards our dreams.
Let us be grateful to the Source of Being
Common to us all
and to all living things.
We wish for you the fullness of life.
We shall go forth peacefully
upon the trails of our Mother Earth.
Amen
as you continue to breathe... let yourself come back
sit tall
stretch your arms and legs
taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly
bring yourself back at your own pace...
and take the peace with you
