Sunna

In the beginning, woman really was the sun.
she was a true person.
Now woman is the moon.
She depends on others for her life
and refelcts the light of others.
She is sickly as a wan, blue-white moon.
We, the completely hidden sun,
must now restore ourselves.
We must revel the hidden sun --
our concealed genius

Blessed be the Goddess of the Midnight Sun,
Sunna, Shining One,
Radiant light of the sky.
Teach me to walk with my head held high
without fear, or self doubt.
To be truly who I am
Light my path with your brilliance.
I light this candle
in fiery offering to you,
Sunna, Goddess of Fire.

Sunna: the Sun. The Sun is always feminine in Germanic languages and culture, just as the Moon is masculine. There is fairly strong evidence showing that the Sun was actually worshipped by the Norse. She is seen as driving a fiery wagon across the sky, which is drawn by either one horse named Skinfaxi ("Shining Mane") or two named Arvaki ("Early Awake") and Alsvidr ("All-Swift"). Old Norse Sól.
