I went to the Polls and voted for President and Governor for |
the first time. I voted for Harrison and Morton for President |
and Vice President and for Hugh Harrison prohibitionist for |
Governor of Minnesota. |
Monday, November 12, 1888 | I burned the letter. |
Mary and I went down to Tripps to a candy pull. We went |
home with Hurts folks and staid (stayed) all night. I asked |
Laura to let me see the letter that I wrote to her when I was up |
at Farm Island lake. She showed it to me and I put it in my |
pocket. Then she went down stairs and I put some papers in |
the stove and when she came up she asked me for the letter |
so I just showed her the ashes and she believed that I burned |
it and she cried. The reason that I wanted it is because I am |
afraid that if we should fall out that she might show it to some |
one else. She told Mary that she had a notion to go to a |
dance with Cap Hart. If she does then I will never go to see |
her any more. |
Wednesday, November 14, 1888 | She shot my rifle - |
I went down to Martins to hunt and stopped in to see Laura. | made a good shot. |
She was alone and she told me that she was going the dance | She wanted me to |
with ?? ?? | come over next |
evening but I did not |
go. |
Thursday, November 15, 1888 |
Horton and I went hunting and I killed a deer. Sent Laura over |
a piece as I had promised her I would if I killed one. I guess I |
will end our summer courtship for I will not go to see her any |
more unless she promises me not to have anything to do with |
any one else. I will wait and see what she says about my not |
coming to see her. |
