I LOVE VH1!!!!!
I thought they did an EXCELLENT job. This movie gets across in 90 minutes the birth of the greatest rock band, the early experiences that challenged them, and how they kept going despite bad press, accidents, and addictions. The movie only covered up to the release of the 1987 CD "Hysteria", considerably their greatest moment of triumph. Their story is sometimes mistaken as only legend. I hope all of you get a chance to see it.
The acting and casting was great, except, I have to say this: usually when "Hollywood" films a lifestory of someone the actors look better than the real people. No offence to the superb actors, but the guys of Def Leppard are hunks. >wink<
VH1 Also featured Def Leppard on "Storytellers". That was fantastic, live performance in front of a live crowd, with more than usual commentary by Joe. The premise of the show is for artists to tell the stories behind their songs, but there didn't seem to really be a story behind any of the songs they performed. It didn't matter. There were some funny moments, one of which is Joe forgetting the words to "Rock of Ages". He apologizes with good humor.
Above all this show gave us an idea of the dynamics of this group of men, how they work with one another. It's obvious they still like and respect one another and still have a good time performing together.
VH1 has featured Def Leppard on their "Behind the Music" series as well. In short, if you like Def Leppard you need to get VH1!
