LULU

"Sheza Licorice Lulu"

The Miniature Shnauzer breed originated in Germany an dis the only breed in the Terrier group which doesn't have British roots.

The breed was developed in the 1890s by crossing smaller specimens of the Standard Schnauzer with the Miniature Pinscher or the Affenpinscher. Originally, it was know as a "Pinscher" but later the breed became known as Schnauzer from the German word, schnauze, meaning "snout" because of the heavy whiskers.

This was what Lulu looked like the first week she came to stay with me. Notice the perfectly folded ears - exact to breed standards if the ears are kept natural. Boy did she fool me after a week - see what her ears did? (See photo above) But those ears have actually become her trademark.

To right, her first visit to "cousin" Pepper's house.

We had a doggie birthday party for Lulu when she turned 1 year old. I invited family and friends (it was Easter time, too) and their dogs. The dogs had party favors and brought presents - "some" wore party hats and ribbons. Here are all my neices and nephews posing with all the dogs that were there.

Lulu and Friends

Left: Lulu and UGA - the University of Georgia's mascot (a ceramic version)

Right: Lulu and Tara. Tara is also a miniature Schnauzer. She's just not been clipped in the photo. Tara is Lulu's niece and is owned by John and Vivian Patten.
