I love the fall...

Fall is here! I can hardly believe that the summer is over. I do love this time of year, though. The morning air is so fresh and inviting, and the heavy morning dew leaves diamond drops on all of the many webs hiding in our yard.

This summer I had the very special opportunity to visit my family in the one and only, most beautiful Ottawa Valley. I had a wonderfully peaceful time visiting with my parents. My mother, my mentor, helped me complete my nothing short of luscious green mohair cardigan. She also guided me through my very first "batch" of bread and butter pickles...Which brings me to my newest pastime. Canning.

Here on spectacular Vancouver Island, our family is blessed with a yard full of apple and pear trees and these days my spare (I use the term loosely) time is filled with making pies and trying my hand at pear jam. We marvel at the size of some of our apples on one tree. We measured one that was 14" around...that is one very big apple. I wish I knew the variety, but, I don't. All I know is that they are very firm and very sweet.

My current wish is to complete a little knitted doll for all of my small friends in time for Christmas Season gift giving. I found the pattern in the November issue of Canadian Living . I also am hoping for a few rainy Sunday afternoons (yes, I really am!!) so that I can work on my web site without sacrificing the pleasant weather outside. If you are a knitter or a sewer or a crafter or a web page builder, or a pickle maker, and would like to share any thoughts about your pastimes email me
or use the form in my guestbook.
