December 16th

Mom and I went grocery shopping this morning, and I picked up a Newsweek special edition magazine about inventions and discoveries that looked interesting, then we headed to Wal-Mart. I said I wanted to get a Brita water-filter pitcher and Mom told me I couldn't. She said that she'd asked Santa to bring it to me. *chuckle* Twenty-six and I still get presents from Santa. I guess I'm never gonna grow up.

As usual it seems I waited too long to get something on the reduced rack of electronics at Wal-Mart; Jevim had bought some Label-once labels for Zip disks and gave me some because there were 25 in the pack and between us we don't have that many Zips. I'd seen the video labels on the reduced rack at Wal-Mart, which included the pen and eraser, and I was going to grab one today. Of course, they've now taken out that particular reduced rack, and I was in a hurry (since I'd told Mom I was just going to be on the other side of the store), so I didn't bother to ask if there were still any floating around. Oh well... *sigh*

I picked up a new Tad Williams (Fantasy writer, for the uninformed) book that I'd seen at the grocery store, but waited for the 25% off at Wal-Mart, some Darjeeling tea, since the Jasmine Jevim bought me isn't what I remember, a pen for the Zip labels (it said rubbing alcohol would serve to erase), and a battery for the mini-clock Jevim bought me, which died on the trip home. Now I just have to fire up Money and enter what I spent. I'm usually good about it right at first, but I slack off before too long.

Anyway, enough with the totally boring stuff; Jevim and I chatted this morning and he was trying to make up his mind about what he wanted with his bonus from work. Yesterday morning, his mind was made up, but since he didn't get to go get the REX, he went to CompUSA and looked around last night at uninterruptable power supplies (UPSes). That's something I think I need more than he does... had a brownout yesterday that didn't quite shut my computer all the way off, so it was just running the fan or something and making strange noises. A regular occurance around here (the power dropouts). If he got the UPS he wanted, he'd still have about $50 leftover, and he wanted me to help him decide this morning.

After two nights of 6 hours sleep, and not being able to find one of my passwords to log in somewhere, I was rather grumpy, and tired of trying to 'help' since it seemed like I wasn't any help at all. If he was waiting for me to say there was something I wanted, it wasn't going to happen. If he wants to spend some of it on me, I won't complain, but it's his bonus. I told him that and he said he thought of it as ours, and would do the same whenever he got bonuses when he went back as a full time employee, but... I don't know... just the way I am, I guess.

I'm bored with the computer at the moment -- despite the fact that there are over 1000 misc.writing entries waiting for me to look over them -- so I'm off to make a cup of tea and enjoy my book or maybe the magazine. Maybe I should finish the book(s) I'm already reading, first? Nah...
