Today has been better... I got a little upset yesterday when Jevim and I were making dinner, because I wasn't cooking the chicken right, and Jevim started telling me how to do it. I gave him the spatula, stood back, and let him do his thing. He 'let' me finish things off -- not that I really wanted to -- and came out to the computer here in the living room.
Admittedly, neither of us was at our best. He'd just got a packet of paperwork from the univerity with his financial aid for next year, and they aren't giving him what he expected or anything near what he got last year, so he's not happy about that, and his father will probably be even more unhappy. Add to that the fact that I'd been in an odd mood from all my weird and unsettling dreams, and it just wasn't a good combination. He did apologize when he realized I was getting upset about things in the kitchen, and I know he wasn't trying to upset me...
Things started getting better after dinner. I crocheted while he worked on getting the Zip drive working again (it works now, yay!!!), and then we watched Jeopardy, and I worked a bit on a crossword puzzle and had tea and Double Chocolate Milano cookies until football came on at 9. He tuned it in, but then asked if I wanted to play a game or something, so we wound up playing four rounds of You Don't Know Jack. I beat him in the first two -- Television -- and he beat me just as bad (if not worse) in the second two, in Sports. All in all, we had fun, and by then, it was pretty much time to go to bed.
I really don't remember dreaming at all last night. I did wake up a few times, but for the most part, I slept through until the alarm went off at 7. He set the 7:30 alarm, and we cuddled for a while before that went off. He actually headed off to work early (that rarely happens when I'm here), and I hopped online and played my games and worked on the afghan for him at the same time.
Connie hopped on ICQ around 9:30 or so, and we chatted for a good part of two hours. Emma called her twice in that time, once for forty minutes, so I got quite a bit done on the afghan while I waited for her to come back to the chat. She says it was a mutual parting of ways (Jevim had basically told me that Connie called an end to things last week), but she also says she wants Emma back. I pointed out that what she wanted was a grown-up Emma, whom I don't believe to exist yet.
We chatted about this and that, and eventually we each headed our own way. I had lunch, read some in misc.writing, and surfed a few pages mentioned in there, then hopped offline from 1 to 2 to get some more work done on the afghan. I need to get five rows done a day if I'm going to finish it up in time, and I've got it about 1/7th done so far. It's going to be close, but I think I can finish it.
After that, I finally got dressed, ran the dishwasher, and surfed and read some more newsgroup stuff, and then I finally got around to doing an 'interview' of the main character in my novel, as well as one of her friends. I just thought of another character I should interview, so maybe I'll get that done tomorrow, and get to some actual outlining of ideas.
After that, I played with my Catz for a bit, and then checked on Jevim's Win95 Tamagotchi, who's been rather neglected as of late, with the new virtual pets running around here. I took care of the little critter and stuck him back in the care center (he'd been tossed out after being left there too long), so I'll have to remind Jevim that he has a pet of sorts to care for, too.
Well, Jevim probably won't be home for at least half an hour; I just dropped him a reminder of stuff we need from the store for dinner tonight, so even if he gets out of the building on time, he'll still be somewhat late. I'm going to post this and then go put away clean dishes and get the meal started. TTYL...
