7:02am
My computer was acting up last night (HomeSite wouldn't work right) so I rebooted and told the folks in the channel that I'd brb, hopefully. *chuckle* Well, I wasn't. I went to log back in and when the dialup went to verify name and password, it disconnected me. So I tried again. And again. And again and again and again.
No luck. Figured that my ISP was having problems, and hopefully they'd be straightened out by morning. Of course, this was after 1 last night. And here it is 7 and I just tried again with the exact same results. I guess it's too early in the morning for anyone to be there to fix something. I'm glad I wasn't supposed to be meeting Jevim online this morning, or I would not be a happy camper. For the moment, I'm just annoyed.
I went so far as to set up a second dialup using the old script I had, and stepped through everything to see what was going on... no luck of course... once it tries to establish the PPP connection, it prints all sorts of garbage to the screen, and that's when I get disconnected. Same thing that happened on Labor Day weekend last year.
I hope they get it sorted out soon, 'cause it's really annoying not to be able to log in. For now, though, I'm going back to bed. Six hours isn't enough sleep!
Oh, I did dream.... I was helping someone (a little kid) "save" the house where Picket Fences, the TV show, was made. The "deconstruction crew" was already there, and had broken a piece out of there front porch. (What do you mean the house in PF didn't have a front porch? I've never seen the show and I have no idea where the imagery came from. *chuckle* I also dreamt earlier about a big memorial for Princess Diana and Mother Theresa, where millions (well, actually trillions according to the 'counter' that was up) of people made a line, holding hands, in this huge clearing in a park. The rain started to pour down, but the people didn't give up, and a spectacular rainbow came into view over them all (I wasn't in the group, I was off to the side for some reason or another, so to me, the rainbow was over them).
I'm off to bed again for a while... I don't think I have my ISP's number handy if no one figures out there's a problem. :
9:20am
Well, I just woke up and hopped back on the computer. Tried to connect again, and still no luck. *sigh* I really hate when that happens... I guess that means it's time to get to work on my homework for PSP, hmm? Can't surf, so I might as well.
11:00am
Haven't started my homework yet (does this surprise anyone?), but I did fix the background for these pages for people using netscape. I normally only check it with IE, and the background looked fairly decent that way.... I checked in netscape a couple days ago and it looked terrible! *ugh* I hate to think of all the webring people who've been in and seen that awful background!
[Note, May 26, 98: These pages have gone through several transformations since I wrote this entry!]
The colors weren't translating right, and so I went and pixel-painted first in Image Composer and things looked just as bad when I saved as dithered, so I opened it up in Paint Shop Pro, repainted all the miscolored pixels, re-added the drop shadow around the heart, and saved it as a GIF. (Tried as a JPG but it looked just as bad again.) It looks nice and clean in either browser now. HomeSite has a nice little feature that lets me search and replace through every file in a directory, so I was able to fix all the background image tags in all the HTML documents without having to open any of them up. :) Now I just need to upload all the pages again. Fun...
I sorta know what my homework assignment involves... at least a couple parts of it (If I remember, it was rather overwhelming) but I can't get back to the page with the actual assignment, since I still can't get online. *sigh* I guess I'll go ahead and make the navigation buttons... that part can't be too hard... and then write add those to the existing pages and hope by then that I can get back online!
If Jevim gets home and I still can't get online, I'm NOT going to be happy...
