Okay, so it's just barely the seventh, but what the hey...
After resorting to somewhat drastic measures, WordPerfect once again runs on Deanna's computer. The modem is another story, but I'm hoping Jev can solve that problem (and the ones causing it) when he gets here. The CMOS battery on the motherboard appears to be dying, and this evening it completely lost all settings. I'm not all that great when it comes to hardware settings and the like, but I did manage to get it back in enough working order for Deanna to do her homework for tomorrow. (She's in graduate school and this is her first week). I talked to Jev this evening, and he said he'd try to fix things while he's here. I feel better now, because it had just seemed to me this morning that everything I touched went wrong.
We won't talk about dogs. Well, not much. I'll just say I no longer want one. Collies seem to be all beauty and no brains, and Navar totally destroyed a good sized cardboard box this afternoon, along with a couple highlighter pens and probably a couple more things we haven't found enough bits of to identify yet. Enough said, I'm sleeping with my door closed tonight!
After we got Deanna set up for homework, I hopped online and found Jev, and we chatted for a bit, then hopped offline to talk on the phone for a while. He's not looking forward to the hassle of moving again, and I really don't blame him, but otherwise, he sounds like he's doing okay.
He did mention that he's not really fond of flying, and thinks it won't be so bad when he has someone (as in me) to fly with. If I could fly back to Charleston with him, believe me, I would!!
We also talked a bit about Connie, since she and I finally caught each other online yesterday, and Jev found out that I had been asked 'the question' that she was going to ask me and he wasn't supposed to give away. She wants me to be her maid of honor when she and her girlfriend get married, and though I didn't realize Jev had been waiting to find out if I knew, she had asked me in an e-mail a few days ago. I was a little shocked when I first got the message, as it all seems a little sudden (just a couple months), but she and I talked for quite a while earlier and she sounds like she's really happy. She's planning on moving up to Canada as soon as possible, so I guess that's one less reason to stay in Missouri. I'm glad for her, and I really hope this all works out well.
Well, it's almost one and I think it's time for bed. I'll probably write more later...

Deanna, the birthday girl, should be home any minute now, and we're going to head out to the Mall of America so she can pick up her ring from the jewelry store, and then I'm going to take her out to dinner somewhere, her choice. I had a somewhat busy and productive day today, got my laundry done, a card made for Deanna, and just some general cleaning up around the house (mostly bits of cardboard from the dumb dog's mess).
I did get to talk to Jev for a little bit this morning when I first got up, and he sounded like he was going to be busy again for his last day there at work. Tonight he'll probably be throwing most of his clothes and such in the car, and tomorrow morning, he'll be on his way back to West Virginia and home, where he'll do laundry and pack for his trip, and then Sunday, his parents will take him to the airport in Charleston. I can't wait to see him... it's only about 48 hours now until he gets here.
Well, my tummy's rumbling, and Deanna should be home any minute now, so I think I'll wrap this up. Type to you later...
