Lisana's Life

When did it get so late? I didn't realize what time it was until I looked at the clock just now to type the time for this entry. Jev and I have been chatting on netmeeting much of the evening, and surfing and just doing our own little thing.

I had strange dreams this morning, but they were fun, exciting, entertaining. Now why can't my day to day life be like that? Probably because I can't squeeze myself through a hole a foot in diameter, or conjure up visions of something happening half a mile away (just two of the small things from this morning's dreams). Ah, well... sometimes real life is entertaining enough.

Mom and I packaged up the framed cross stitch and got it on its way to Minnesota... we gave it lots of cushioning, so I'm hoping the glass in the frame makes it in one piece. Delina should have fun trying to get the thing unpacked, as Mom used about a roll and a half of mailing tape on it! It feels good to have the darn thing done and on its way; I started it in February of 1994, so I was just a liiiiiiiittle slow in getting it done.

I started another little cross stitch, a cardinal on a snowy branch, for a friend of mine in Denver; she's making a little something for Jev and I, and so I thought I'd do something for her, as well. Besides, it's quick and easy, and right now I need something that won't take very long to do. That dragon about drove me crazy!

Jev and I played a little backgammon this evening -- he beat me in the match we had going on FIBS -- and just before we were done, I saw someone log in with the name gforce. Now, I don't think I've mentioned it here, but I remember watching an anime cartoon back when I was about 11 or so, and I didn't know it was anime at the time, but for some reason, it stuck in my head. I've always wished I could go back and see the whole series, but that was an awful big wish, because I couldn't remember the name. Well... I saw gforce, and it clicked! That wasn't the name of the show as I remembered it, but it was enough to find me some decent leads on Infoseek, and I found a whole bunch of pages about it, in it's different incarnations. You may remember it as Battle of the Planets, as I do, or G-Force, or Gatchaman, or its latest incarnation, Eagle Riders (or somesuch). Apparently there is a rather devoted following lurking out there; I'm not alone!

It was nice to find a little remembrance of my growing-up days; I found a clip of the intro music and narration, images, all sorts of stuff.... but not the one thing I was hoping to find: that it's being re-run on cable somewhere. I guess it was, a few years back, but I missed it. I'd still love to see the series in its entirety, as I remember it. Maybe someday. I shared the link with Jev, and much to my surprise, he remembered the show too!

Another show I remember, from a few years later, was Star Blazers." I got to see that when I first went to Hawaii to spend a month with my uncle and his family in Hawaii. It took me a while to get into it, since I guess I came in somewhere in the middle of the series (summer of 1984 is when I remember seeing it), but I liked it. We didn't have cable at home, though, so I only got to see a few weeks' worth of it. *sigh*

I got another surprise from Jev this evening... While I was surfing around looking for info on Battle of the Planets and Star Blazers, he was cooking up his first journal entry. Yep, you read that right, he now has a journal! It's something he's been thinking about doing for a while now, and it's kind of interesting to be on the other side of things. He openly admits that he's not really big on writing, but I'm hoping this is something that he gives a try, at least for a while.

Okay, he says I can link to his journal... as long as it's part of an entry that I post within the next three days. Well, I had this written already (but for the link), so I guess all I have to do is get it posted. *grin*
