heck, who knows what time it was...

Getting close now... only about 26 more hours until I land in Charleston, where Jev will pick me up. I'll be very glad to get there and just be in his arms again. This last day before the trip has just been something I've wanted to avoid, and I'm not sure why. It could be because I've hardly done any packing, or because I feel like I'm leaving so many things left undone.

I did remember one little gift that I'd bought for Jev, and found another that I'd been hunting for a day or two ago, to no avail. And I got about half the backstitching done on a gift I'm making for a friend... nothing like the last minute! I didn't get any more Christmas cards made up to send out like I wanted to, though. And my bags still aren't completely packed.

I got dragged up to Mom's aunt's in Elmer today; I really didn't want to go, but Mom said it would be rude if I didn't, because she'd said she had presents for both of us. "Presents" turned out to be a little tray of cheeses and jellies... stuff I'd hardly touch, and that I really didn't feel worth my trip up there. There's not much less interesting than listening to an eight-five year old woman tell the same story over and over again. Especially when said woman is a Beverly Hillbilly, take away the Beverly part. My relatives didn't exactly have high-falutin' upbringing, y'know? *snort*

I wish I knew more about the other half of my family -- my father's side. But all I have is a name, and not even a picture. I don't look much like my mom's side of the family... the Williamses all have this same mouth and same eyes, and I don't see those features in myself. My one brother has told me that I get my looks from my father (and I'm sure I've said that before), but just once I'd like to see for myself. I'm not big into genealogy, but I guess I'd like to know a little about my roots.

9:34 PM

Only about 24 hours to go now. Jev and I just finished up a couple backgammon matches.... I won the first and he won the second, and I'm feeling pretty stuffed and sleepy and ready to curl up for a nice long nap. If only... My bags still aren't any more packed, I need a bath, and there are a half dozen other things I feel like I ought to do. For now I don't care... I should wake up with plenty of time to do those things in the morning, if a little hastily. Mom wants to leave at 11 AM and my flight's not until 4:50, so I think I have a little time to spare, as it only takes about two and a half hours to drive to the airport.

I'm going to wrap this up and post it, and then maybe stitch a bit more while I talk to Jev. Have a good one...
