11:12 AM Salem, Virginia
Jev's gone on his interview with "Co-op Company, Office Two," and I'm here at the hotel, killing a little time. Don't know when he'll be back, but I should be out of the room by two, so I might spend some time down in the lobby. The front desk said they could move me to another room temporarily, but I don't want to make any hassle. If I can sit at one of the tables at the breakfast area, I can write or stitch or whatever.
We had a nice time yesterday; we stopped at a mall about 50 miles out of town, and looked around a bit and played in the arcade. I made a decent showing at my first game of Galaga, and replaced the 5th place score (it must get reset each night, I'm not that good!) Then Jev played and got 3rd, I think. Or maybe it was 2nd. Anyway, he outclassed me. We tried again and I just didn't do as well, but he placed once more. One of these days, maybe I'll finally beat him at a video game; it just didn't happen this time!
After the mall, we hit Wally World, which was a weird experience for me. It was laid out almost identically to the one where I live, and I was leading the way to all the things we wanted to look at. Or that I wanted to look at... I felt quite at home, literally. Anyway, I got a little needlepoint thing, to have something for my hands to do, and some tea and a couple necessities, and we were off again.
After a couple tries, we found a Taco Bell around 5. The service and food left a little to be desired, so I guess Taco Bell and West Virginia just don't mix very well. We made one more stop, at a nearby CVS pharmacy to look for something Jev wanted to get me (no luck on that), then drove the rest of the way to our destination, checked in, and got settled for the night.
We went to bed at a reasonable hour, I think (I couldn't see the clock from my side of the bed), since he wanted to be up at 6:30 to get ready. He woke just a few minutes before that, so we had some time to curl up together before the alarm went off, and that was nice. I dozed while he showered, but when he asked if I was coming down to breakfast with him, I did get up and get ready.
After breakfast, he checked with the front desk to see how long I could stay in the room, and he came back up with me for a few minutes before heading off to the interview. He said they were taking him to lunch, so I'm not expecting him back until one at the earliest.
All in all, I think our visit's going well so far. We really haven't settled in for any serious talks yet, but we've kinda been a little caught up with other things and haven't had much quiet time yet. Tomorrow he has a dentist appointment, but after that, things should settled down.
10:30 PM Back in WV
Well, we got back around 9, I think, and I had two packages waiting for me... one from my friends up in Minnesota, and one from my e-mail friend in Colorado. I had to open everything, of course... got lots of goodies, and I think Jev just about had a heart attack when he saw the box from Victoria's Secret, from my friends up in MN. I noticed that it had formerly had Michelle's name written on the lid, then scratched out and replaced with mine, so I figured it probably wasn't from VS. Oh well... I did get some nice presents... a couple Beanie Babies (people must think I collect them or somethin, I seem to have amassed several now), a CD, a couple different kinds of post-its, and some pictures my friend took at various concerts and such. Oh, and the neatest little things for your pockets, that heat up when you click a little metal disc inside; just what I needed today, actually... it got cold all of a sudden!
Anyway, Jev's under the covers behind me and I still need to take out my lenses, so I'll quit babbling. G'night!
