A Watched Pot Never Boils"February 23, 1998Some of you may remember, a month or so back, when I posted that I had been accepted as a featured page here in Wellesley. Apparently the featured page queue is rather long, because I sat patiently watching my inbox for several weeks, waiting for the confirmation message, and my "space remaining" for that extra 3MB. I finally convinced myself that it wasn't going to come, as long as I was watching for it. Sure enough, tonight while I was playing backgammon with Jevim, and least expecting it, I got the message:
I spent the next ten minutes or so bouncing around the room, fixing my Geocities topics (which were in need of fixing), checking out my extra disk space, and telling Jevim all about it. I was just a little hyper, and am still wound up about it. :) It's not as if I didn't know it was coming sometime, but it's nice to finally be official! I've been rather bad about keeping things up in here the past week or so... I've just been feeling rather lazy, and wondering where to begin getting everything cleaned up and ready for Mom to get back home. I paid bills today, and put the cats out on the sun porch, since it was quite nice and warm out for February. I still need to vacuum, dust, mop floors, and clean my room before Saturday, so I'm going to have to get busy before it sneaks up on me. I spent part of today working on the cross-stitch I meant to finish for mom for Christmas (ooops!) and worked on Jevim's afghan while I watched Babylon 5. Got to get that one done soon... less than two weeks now til he's here! *bounce* Has anyone out there ever bought anything from McGlen Micro? I did, and I'm really regretting it. A month ago I ordered some ZIP disks and two headsets with built in microphones. I received the ZIP disks later that week. I still haven't received the headsets after numerous e-mails. Their latest one gave me a UPS tracking number, which turned out to be the tracking number for the package I did receive, and I have the box to prove it. I called them this morning to try to straighten things out, only to have the sales rep tell me she'd call back. She never did. I am very unpleased, and since the VISA bill came today, I've written a letter to the credit card company asking if there is anything they can do about the matter (as in refuse to pay the portion of the bill for the headsets). I'm going to call McGlen again bright and early tomorrow morning and not hang up until I get an answer one way or another. If they won't give me what I want (the headphones or a refund) the letter goes out with the afternoon mail. I can't think of much more to write about. Well... I could but it's a long story. Suffice it to say that Emma and I are working on building a new friendship, and Connie and I had a bit of a falling out over some things, but everything seems to be sorted out and on the road to recovery now. All in all, things are pretty good.
