A Day of Rest
March 1st, 1998
I don't know why, but with Mom home today, I didn't feel near as bad about being a lazy bum. She was pretty tired from the long trip yesterday, and didn't do much but a little unpacking and watering the plants. Seems I'd neglected to water them for a couple weeks now -- oops! Figures I'd forget something, but at least only one plant seemed to be showing signs of neglect, and Mom seems to think it will snap out of it quickly.
Since Mom wasn't in cleanup mode, I was lazy today too. I chatted with Jevim, web-surfed, played Boggle on the computer, and watched some television and cross-stitched. I did finish the kitty project for Mom last night, with a couple hours to spare, and she noticed it this morning, where I'd left it propped up on the dining room table along with her mail.
Mom took the video camera with her on her trip, so this afternoon I watched the bit of tape her 'honey' recorded, while she told me who everyone was. Lots of relatives of mine whom I have never met, for the most part (my grandfather's nieces and nephews).
Before she left on her trip, Mom was talking of possibly moving back to California and getting married again, but now it sounds like things are no longer going in that direction. I had thought it would be nice for her, though I was not so sure what I would do in the interim, until Jevim graduates.
But, then, things are changing here, too. Mom's brother and family, who had moved to Florida just last year, are back in state, just an hour or so's drive away, so maybe things will unfold for her here. As for me, I'm just looking forward to may and June of next year. And to next week, of course!
While Mom was in California, her sweetie gave her a copy of "Don't Sweat the Small Stuff" by Dr. Richard Carlson. Mom brought it in to me this morning so I could have a look at it, and it's laying beside me on my body pillow, waiting for me to finish this entry. I've got the computer busy defragmenting drives, so as soon as it's done, I'm going to shut it down and settle into the book.
This next week is going to be a bit busy, getting the house cleaned up and everything ready for company. I have a thing or two in mind that I'd like to get to work on, but I'll wait and see how the week unfolds.
The computer's done now... goodnight!
