Late Night
Today was an odd sort of day. I guess it's the dreams I had that make me say that, but they were just a part of it.
I woke up to the alarm at 6:20, not really wanting to get up, but I decided to hop online to tell Jev good morning, then go back to bed. The fates were not amused, apparently, because Jev wasn't to be found online. He was the sane one who slept in. Lucky guy!
Anyway, I did catch him for a couple minutes before class, then went out and said hello to mom, who'd just gotten back from her walk, and was getting ready to go rummage saleing. She said something about how she wished I could find a friend like her new walking partner, and it quickly got into how I have no friends my age around here, and how Connie will drive all the way to St. Louis (a longer trek thank to here) just to spend the day with her new net friend, and then turn around and drive home; or come up to her parents' and only tell me after the fact. It makes me feel like such a loser. And mom turns around and says, "Maybe you should drive down there." Yeah, like I have a car, and a license... or like she'd drive me the 4+ hours each way. I don't see it happening any time soon.
So I was feeling like a real loser, she left for her rummage sale, and I crawled back into bed with the bear Jev gave me, and cried myself back to sleep.
I kept dreaming that my wisdom tooth broke -- crumbled to bits in my mouth, and all sorts of unpleasant things -- and I even remember thinking it was a dream, and feeling the broken bits of tooth on my tongue, and knowing it must be real and not a dream. So much for escaping. I woke up intermittently... when Mom got back, or the cats made a noise, but managed to stay mostly out of it until 10:30, when I hopped back online to wait for Jev to get back from class.
We chatted a bit, then it was lunchtime for him, and he said he'd be back around four. I goofed off, did a bit of stitching, a bit of HTML tinkering, and eventually got up the gumption to ask Mom if we could go to Wally World. She said whenever I was ready, so I made myself presentable, and we went.
I don't know if it was because she knew I was feeling down, or what, but Mom splurged and bought me the new video of the musical Cats. I got the embroidery floss color I needed, and two more cross stitch mags I really didn't need, so I was happy, and we came back home.
I caught Jev online again at the appointed hour, and we didn't chat too long before he headed off to goof off and have dinner. I went out to the living room and watched Cats with Mom, and was feeling a good deal better after that.
The timing was great; I got back just a bit before Jev did, and we fired up Netmeeting and stitched, then he climbed up into bed and fell asleep, and I stitched till a bit after midnight. Chatted a little on IRC with friends, and now I'm ready to sleep.
All in all, not a fantastic day, but not an utterly horrible one, either. G'night.... -- Lis
