11:32 AM: In the car

We're on our way to lunch (Chinese... mmm!). Yesterday was another one of those days. Jev and I played a game of Age of Empires, and as usual, I got frustrated over being outclassed. This time, I got downright angry. Yes folks, I can be a lousy loser, especially after the third of roufth straight defeat. I'm still feeling stupid for it. We've both deleted the game from our systems, to prevent further temptation (playing had been Jev's idea... he says he doesn't particularly like the game, but he likes playing games with me). We do fine when we're siding together to beat up on the computer players, but you can't do that in the free trial version, and I'm no competition for Jev, who has played many such games. He doesn't seem to be able to figure out how to hold back, either... I was getting a little better (I thought) each time we'd play, but then he'd be ten times better, and I didn't have even half a hope. Oh well, that's life.

That in itself was enough to get me down yesterday; then Mom and I went to Wally World, and I picked up my pictures, and dropped another $59 on a movie (X Files) and a game (Creatures 2) that barely runs on my computer. *sigh* Anyone have a P166 overdrive lying around? I knew my poor little P90 didn't meet the minimum requirements, but I had to try. Hopefully I'll get to play it on Jev's computer over Christmas though; I think he has a P200 or 233. *grin* He was offering to give me that computer instead of the one I've got, but I couldn't take him up on that offer; he has more need of a better computer than I do.

The last straw last night was a new round of arguments in the newsgroup. I'd checked in, in hopes of being cheered up... it didn't happen. I announced that I was going into semi-hibernation (I'm a bear there, after all), and I am going to refrain from responding to any of the flame posts, though it's hard to resist, at times. Tempers are heated and emotions are high; I don't need to add any more fuel to the fires that are raging already.

Not the best of days, for sure, but the winding down part got better; an online friend of mine is having a baby, so that was happy news, and then I just goofed off with IRC friends and surfed. Ever heard of Strawberry Pop Tart blowtorches? Or the Marshmallow Bunny Endurance tests? Amazing what people will do in the name of science! (Kids, don't try these at home!)

Lunch is just around the corner; I'll be back on the return trip....

1:45 PM

Well, I was almost a bad girl again. After lunch, Mom and I stopped at Ben Franklin's. I did buy almost $10 of craft stuff and candles, but I managed to get out of the store without using my credit card. It wasn't easy, I tell you, as they had some adorable teddy bears from Russ. Chester, Mulberry, and Radclivve (?) just felt soooo soft and cuddly in my arms. I almost adopted Chester, and I probably would have if I hadn't just been bad yesterday. Ah, well... Jev, if you're reading, this is a great big Christmas hint. (yes, I know, I'm wearing "christmas", but I have the feeling that you won't let the day go by without some sort of present... ;)

I stuffed myself at lunch, as always, and if it weren't for wearing my press-on eyeballs, I'd probably nap the rest of the way home. As it is, I think I can make it today without a nap; I should have a while before Jev gets back from classes, so I'm going to try to get these entries typed and posted, then work on the new site if there's still time [ed. note: didn't happen!

Jev pointed a place out to me this morning that leases subdomains for a very reasonable fee, and gives pop mail addys and 5 MB of webspace or a re-directable URL. I haven't decided for sure yet what domain I'll choose, but hopefully by the beginning of next month, the journal will have a new home, without banner ads, watermarks, or any of that bologna.
