It's Tuesday already....? Last week went by in the blink of an eye (not a bad thing when you're counting the days till a given date), and it looks like this week will go just as fast. It seems the trick is just keeping myself busy.
I'm really enjoying the time change, at least in the morning, as it puts me on a more comfortable schedule. It feels like I'm getting to sleep in in the mornings, even when I get up at 6:20 to chat with Jev, because it's already light out. And I've been waking up before the alarm goes off, so it's not like I'm dragging myself out of bed, like I've been doing lately. I'm also getting to bed at a decent hour, since it feels so much later to me. And being awake and ready to face the day really seems to help in the mornings. My only complaint is that it gets dark so dang early!
Yesterday, Mom wanted to run some errands, and I needed to go to the bank to pay my bills, so once Jev was off to class, I took a quick bath, washed my hair and blew it dry (I rarely mess with the blowdryer), and was dressed and ready to go by 8:20. We did our running about, and got back just about the time Jev got back from class. We had some time together before he had to run off and eat and do homework, and then I got some stitching done and got caught up a bit in newsgroups. I meant to clean my room up a bit (it's pretty cluttered), but I didn't get around to that.
While Jev was off for dinner, I scanned a couple of my cross stitch projects: one that's finished (the sandcastle) and one of three that I'm currently working on, called "The North Wind". When I get around to it, I'll post pictures here so you can see. I'm not presently working on the dragon that you can find on my bio page, but once I finish the dragon I'm doing now for a friend, I plan on bringing that back into rotation. The North Wind is a really HUGE project, even bigger than the Teresa Wentzler dragon & castle, I daresay, but I've been working on that one on weekends and surprisingly it's coming along very well.
Anyway, for those of you *not* interested in cross stitch, I'll get off that thread. Sorry. ;) Jev and I tried to talk on netmeeting last night, but lately we've been having trouble on his end. He thought it might be the new USB keyboard he bought Saturday to replace the one that got fried (he spilled water into it and something in the membrane layer was not happy), but he turned off USB and still his sound card wasn't recording right. He tried a few things, and eventually wound up completely reinstalling Win 98, but come this morning, the sound card still won't record, and we think it may be dying. He doesn't have his other one with him, so it looks like he'll be heading home to get it sometime in the near future. Probably not this weekend though, since Thursday and Friday he'll be gone to North Carolina for an interview with a big computer company down there.
We both got to sleep in this morning, since Jev didn't have class til 11, and when he got up, he installed ICQ and mIRC so we could chat for a bit. Mom had mentioned yesterday that she'd like to go to Columbia to get new glasses, so I told her either today or Thursday would be good for me, since Jev has classes most of the day. This morning she came in around 7:30 and asked if I'd like to go today, and she didn't have to ask me twice!
I took the smallest of the cross stitches I'm working on right now (a halloween bear) and the bag of flosses that I'd bought at Michael's after my doctor appointment on the 8th (when I wound up with so many duplicates). We went to Sears for her glasses, then Hallmark, where I was a baaaad girl and bought Roy and Sierra of the Cherished Teddies collection, and came out with two more teddies as well (free plush beanie type Cherished Teddies they're giving away with purchases over $15). Mom bought me this fizzy bath thingie too, an orange one called "fizzy navel" so I really made out like a bandit there. We went next door to Waldenbooks, but I didn't see anything I couldn't live with out (or probably find cheaper at one of the online bookstores), so we left the mall and headed to Michael's.
The clerk there was very nice and said to just go back and pick out what colors of floss I wanted, and when I got back to where they were, I saw they were on sale now 16 cents each (they were 20 each before) so since I had my correct listing with me, I picked out 10 to replace the dupes, and 30 more. I'm getting fairly close to having most of the solid DMC colors now... I should have just started at one end of the list and filled out what I don't have, but I don't like all the colors, so I picked and chose. And didn't exactly keep track of what I got. When I got back to the car, Mom headed over to her doctor's office to make an appointment, and I sorted through what I'd bought and found 3 more duplicates. Oh well, 3 out of 40 is much better than 10 out of 30. Maybe Wal-Mart will let me exchange those 3 for other colors; Mom would have taken me back to Michael's, but I would have felt pretty foolish, seeing as I had my list right there in my hand.
After shopping and making appointments, we headed to Taco Bell for lunch, and then home, where I put the 2 Beanie Cherished Teddies up on the monitor next to their sister (yes, I already had one, and all three are different), and now I have triplets. *chuckle* Mom says I should give a couple of them away, and I might. One's name is Karen and I know a Karen, and another's is Sara, and I know a couple Saras. We'll see...
When I checked mail, I had a message from the Best of Wellesley, pointing out that I'm still in the ring (it used to be the Featured Page ring) but I'm not listed with "Best of Wellesley" so I went and submitted my site, and now I'm in the process of hopefully getting things updated before they come along to check out the site.
I think, for now, I will stay put here at Geocities. I've been going overboard in my spending lately, and even the $25 to get set up with the custom e-mail and forwarding URL is more than I ought to spend (especially after going nutz with CT's and embroidery floss today, and with an impending plane ticket purchase). If I can hold out another year or so, maybe Jev and I can have our own domain name and I can move the site there. We shall see... I don't think I'm in danger of running out of space any time soon.... except space on my HD. Anyone got a spare 2GB drive lying around? *wink*
I think I'll quit blabbing now and type in some old entries. We'll just see how many I can enter before Jev gets back from class. Type to you later!
