10:23 PM... 200 days until Jevim graduates!
Today got off to a very rocky start; Jev and I had a rather unpleasant little spat, and it wasn't settled without a good many tears on both sides. It was my fault; I was trying to be helpful, and was being hurtful instead, and everything just went crazy.
We did get things settled, but Jev wound up missing his 9AM class, which he'll miss again Friday while he's down in North Carolina for an interview. I hope he doesn't miss anything he can't make up later. He'll be flying out tomorrow afternoon, and getting back in late Friday night, so I'll have a couple days to keep myself occupied, and maybe get some stitching / studying / leisure reading done. One can hope, anyway!
The rest of my day has been significantly better, even if there was nothing truly significant about it. I stitched, caught up on e-mail and mailing lists, ate / munched / stuffed myself far too much, and watched the new episode of Babylon 5. There was so much going on in the episode that sometimes it felt like two or three shows, squished into one.
I got my books from http://www.barnesandnoble.com yesterday, finally! (UPS missorted the first package and it was three days late, but otherwise unharmed), so I worked my way through the first 20 pages or so of Borland C++ 5 for Dummies, and am quite happy with it. BC++5 comes with several booklets, foldouts, and the like, but not really any straightforward "This is how you..." type stuff, and the Dummies book covers that fairly well.
I also go thte "textbook" for ZDU's "Intro to C++ Programming" course, and Owlflight by Mercedes Lackey. The latter will be my reward for getting through Dummies and the programming course. It's not as if I have nothing to read at the moment; I'm partway into about four different books, and I'm getting about as bad at finishing reading a book as I am at finishing a cross stitch project. Looks like I've got plenty to keep me busy for a while.
This evening, as Jev and I were chatting (his sound card is dying, so he can't talk on NetMeeting, though he can hear me talk most of the time), he must have been catching up on my journal. He said he thought I needed to reorder my "Reasons I'm Loved" list in August 22nd's entry which I finally posted yesterday. I'll just show you what he had to say... some made me cry happy tears, and others just made me want to reach out and tickle him senseless! *chuckle*
J: I think you need to reorder the "Reasons I'm Loved" list on the Aug. 22nd entry... :^)
L: I do?
J: mhhhmmm......
L: and how should I reorder it?
J: you missed wonderful personality, a smile that could melt the polar ice caps... and armrest should be #1 on the list... :^)
[we got sidetracked with one sided tickle fight here]
J: you my favorite pillow, too....
L: Then I'll post a new list tonight... put them in order for me?
J:J: Why I love you: because you're you. :-) I'd love you even if you were a Macintosh. :^)
- World's best Pillow/Armrest. :^)
- Computer wizardess.
- Placard parking!
L: even if, huh?
J: mmmhmmm... :-) I'd love you even if you--*shudder*--used a Macintosh. *tease*
L: so... where do 'personality' and 'smile' fit in on this list of yours, hmmm?
J: hmmm.... somewhere around 50th, I think... :^) *tease*That's all, folks! For now, anyway....
