THE SERIOUS STUFF

Well, I promised you some serious stuff. The truth is, the "phunny" (apologies to the prof) stuff is much easier to do, and most of you will only know that side of me. I don't even know where to begin ..... there are many issues which are important to me:

I'd like to use this section of my site to explore this side of who I am. Many of you will prefer the lighter pages, and that is just fine. For those of you who would like to stay, you are very welcome.

"The fishermen know that the sea is dangerous and the storm terrible, but they have never found these dangers sufficient reason for remaining ashore."
Vincent van Gogh

"The spirit and the senses so easily grow dead to the impressions of the beautiful and perfect...One ought every day, at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture and, if possible, speak a few reasonable words."
Goethe

I am currently grappling (well, beginning to grapple) with the issue of human remains in museums - the ethics which should govern their collection and display. Our museum has a great many examples of human remains, from a mummy to archaeologically-recovered pot burials. Do you have any feelings on this matter? Or on any other issues which I have raised on my page? If so, please e-mail:
