Thinking more today about "guests" and "traspassers". Guests are people we welcome into our space. Traspassers are people who intrude into our space and try to take it over. Sometimes guests become traspassers. I think a prime example of this is the welcome that First Nations gave to the Europeans - welcoming them to the land. We Europeans than "took over" and imposed our values and culture on the original inhabitants. We went from being "guests" to being "traspassers". On a smaller scale, there are people who enter our lives and try to control and manipulate us and form us into their image of what and who we "should" be.

Is it ever possible to change a traspasser back into a guest?

It would be so nice to just "quit" and settle down here! I think that "temptation" is part of every pilgrimage! At least from what I have read. But the Pilgrim moves on, keeping her focus on where she is being led.

It's so easy to become "settled" - both physically and mentally. Pilgrimage is also a journey into new thoughts and ideas; being open to receive them as "guests".
