Edmonton, Alberta

September 2nd - day 9

Free coffee and donuts at 10 am at the campsite this morning, and I'm hanging around for it because I don't know which way to go! So here I sit praying for guidance! I might just have to trust in God and risk the road.

3:30 pm and I've made a Novena of gas stations for directions while exploring most of the main roads in Edmonton. But I've arrived at Kate's address, missed the rush hour, and just have to wait until they come home.

I also found numerous parks and met lots of nice people. At a coffee shop I shared a Mocha with a woman from Mapleridge BC who is visiting her daughter here. Carol at the campsite is moving to Parksville so we exchanged addresses for when she gets to her new place. We had a spirited discussion about politics at the coffee and donuts this morning! I'm amazed at how many people support the policies of Campbell and Klien. They seem to have no thought for the people who are suffering from the cutbacks, nor critique of how government spends the abundant money it has. We seem to be unaware of the pain until it becomes our own and we lose the services that are important to us. Why is it so difficult to feel the pain of others?

They did say that Calgary benefited from the Olympics, which I hope BC will do too. Otherwise, there will be even more cutbacks and crushing of the poor.
