The Dress
Well here's the part all you girls are probably wanting to read the most. What I'm wearing.
Josephine loaned me some bridal magazines after her wedding, so I'd gone through them and looked at things I liked. Then Lavinia got engaged and I helped her look through mags. Then Ray propose, so of course I had to go buy my own magazines to continue my search (I must have bought at least 15 now), and with everyone's help decided on what styles might do.
I set off with Lavinia and to cut a long story short, was appalled at the treatment by the lady in Cann's and went out just about ready to cry. Luckily we decided to stop in Parramatta, where we found the bridesmaids dresses, my engagement ring, and purely by chance came across Park Avenue Bridal shop.
Cautiously we entered, but were pleasantly suprised by the standard of service they offered. I tried on two dresses; one halter-neck in ivory and the other a strapless in white.
The halterneck won...and I put a deposit down. It arrived from America over Christmas, as when I went in after New Year to show the sample dress to a visiting friend, they had my own dress there to try on.
Now you probably want a description of this dress. Well, it is an ivory halter-neck gown with full box pleated and cathedral length skirt. (I'll certainly be able to
swish around in that on the dance floor!) The bodice features rouleau work and pearl beading.
And now if you can't picture all that, here is a picture from a magazine I found (the only one I've found, mind you).
