We have been together since 1995.  Life has changed a lot during that time.
For one thing, Liz now believes in committed relationships.  For another,
Phoenix has learned about being a parent.  We have together learned how to adjust to life
when Melinda became paralyzed and a wheelchair her way of moving about in the world.
We have learned that we have soft hearts where animals are concerned, and thus, have too
many of them at any given time.  We have learned that we get the most from giving and
sharing what we have. and have learned that sometimes we have to accept help, too.
We have learned that relationships can survive law school, depression, major family
tragedies, oppression due to lifestyle, work burn-out and small-town isolation.
We have also learned how we complement each other and how extremely deep
and long-lasting our love can be.  It's truly a wonderful thing that we are grateful for every day.
We recently got rings to celebrate our relationship and our commitment.
