I have been researching my family history for about three years now and have found lots of relatives via the internet. My two main sources of information have been Family Tree Maker and Cyndi's List of Genealogy Sites. Most of My Family History is recorded on the World Family Tree Volume 17.
Some of the surnames in my family tree:
I have about ten generations of information on the Burks beginning in 1791 in Limerick, Ireland. Once they came to the USA, John Burk was arrested for treason in the Revolutionary War and later given land in Canada as a British Loyalist.
The Rivetts settled in Quebec and Bay City Michigan. My great-great grandparents had fourteen children. This group used to meet for family reuions in Grosse Point, Michigan until a few years ago. Unfortunately I missed all of those reunions.
I dont have a lot of information on the Kruses yet. I have traced this branch back about three generations to Germany. We have a great family story about my Dad refusing to eat dinner at the Old German restaurant in Ann Arbor because it was owned by "Nazis". He was in Kindergarden at the time (about a year after WWII ended) and made no connection between his German heritage and Nazi Germany, not to mention political correctness.....
Becker
This is the branch of the tree I know the least about. My Grandfather was adopted by a man named Paul Becker of either Illinois or Wisconsin. Probably around 1910-1920.
