So, you got your Tidbits© in the mail! Now you have a problem opening them :(
Don't feel bad, all of us that use AOL had to learn how to download. It's a bit confusing at first, but you'll be an old hand at it in now time! (there are still lost files on my computer from my first few attempts!)I use AOL 5.0, so your screen may look a little different if you are using one of the older version, but you'll get the general idea.
This is what Tidbits© looks like whe you open your mail. If you look in the bottom left corner of the e-mail, you'll see a button for "Download". Put your curser on it and left click. This will open your Download Manager.
This is what the Download Manager looks like. This is where you decide what file to save the Tidbits © in.
Don't forget the name of this file, because you will need it to read the Tidbits © after you finish the download. You can download them to a floppy disk or put them in a file on your hard drive. (I created a special folder for Tidbits, want to learn how to do that?)Click on "Save". The download will start.
A message may appear that asks you if you are sure you want to download this file. It's a precautionary warning for all downloads, it is NOT warning you that this e-mail may have a virus or any other problem.. You can choose to have that warning turned off if you click on the box that says "Don't show me this warning again".
After the download is complete you will get a mesage that tells you the transfer is complete.
Click on OK.
Now the file has been transfered, you will need to open it with a word processing program to read it. You can do this while you are online, but it's not necessary. Click on Start to open the program you'll use.
Choose Programs, then click on the program you'll use. I use Notepad, but you can use what ever you prefer. Click on "Open" and go to the file you saved Tidbits © in.
