I saw this dress in a bridal magazine right after I got engaged and fell in love with it. I went to one bridal shop here in Philadelphia and tried on dresses and hated them all. I found out that my dress would be $1200...which, because Craig and I are paying for the wedding ourselves, is a little pricy for me. I looked into having it made, and found out that I could have it made for $800. Then I made a visit to Berwick, PA where I grew up and looked at gowns there. I really didn't think I'd find anything because Berwick is not known for its haute couture.
But I walked in, showed the picture of my beloved gown (thinking they might have something similar) and almost passed out when they said they had just received the gown last week and had it in stock! And to top it off, the dress was only $508! So of course, I snapped it up!
In addition, I'm having the seamstress at Antonia's, Terri, custom design my headpeice. Since wearing a tradition veil denotes a bride's submission to her future husband, I'm not having any of that. The front of the headpeice is just sort of a headband made of pearls that will attach to the front of my bun, and a long veil that will connect to a comb underneath the back of my bun. It will train a bit, too.
