The ideas are myriad, and on the verge of being carried out.
First and foremost, the wedding will be a masquerade wedding held on a Mississippi River paddle boat located on the Delaware River in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 28, 2000.
Originally, Craig and I were going to have a Halloween wedding, but we thought it would be more elegant to have a masquerade wedding. We also thought perhaps people would think we weren't taking it seriously. Of course, with a masquerade theme, not that much has changed...we're still providing masks as favors but the invitations have been harder to figure out and the cake won't be decorated with bats and pumpkins!
Other ideas we've had:
- We saw a ring pillow that I just fell in love with. Its an ecru colored pillow that has a Shakespearean sonnet written across it. It's gorgeous and so me!
- We're going to buy a bunch of frames and put some romantic quotations in them and scatter them around the buffet table. Considering my background in English and Literature, it's a perfect idea!
- At first, we thought we would rent some vases for centerpeices and throw in some calla lillies or gladiolas and then toss in the masks (favors), but then we really gave it some more thought and decided to have potted ferns, hopefully in heavy stone vases. Then we can poke the masks into the dirt, and also embed the table rings in there, too.
- We are having problems figuring out what to name the tables. Neither of us want to have the tables numbered -- how boring! Thoughts we've had are author's names, constellations, tree names, flower names, colors...but none have struck us as perfect. If you have any ideas, let us know!
