This pic was taken in Nov 95. Katilyn was 3 1/2 and 7 months post her double stem cell rescue BMT. She was diagnised with stage IV extreme neuroblastoma when she was 2 1/2. She was treated at the Jimmy Fund Clinic at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Children's Hosital Boston. The Jimmy Fund Clinic is the pediatric oncology floor. She was on a study group protocol, to see if it would work. The study group involved 6 kids and she was the sickest one. The doctors gave her 3 weeks to live at dx. She endured high doses of chemo, 7 surgeries, and during the BMT's she recieved more chemo and TBI - Total Body Irradiation. She flew through treatment in 5 months and smiled all the way through.

This is her 1st grade picture. She is 7 here. Since 1995, we have been involved with the American Cancer society's Relay for Life walk-a-thon. Our team name is KATYDID SURVIVE! and our team logo is a cartoon drawing of a katydid (cricket). All the $$ raised at these events goes directly to research. We know, without research, Katie would not be here today.

We thank GOD every day for our little angel (with the crooked halo) on earth. We have been truly blessed. :-)

To get more information about a Realy near you, call your local ACS office or call 1-800-ACS-2345 for any cancer information.

This is Katie at 23 months at the State Finals Beauty Pagent. She got the tiara at 14 months when she was named queen. At the MA State finals she got 1st runner up for photogenic.

Six months after the pageant, Katie was battling the biggest battle of her life. Katie saw her angel in the hospital and she also saw an angel of another child 1 year later. The music on this page was chosen because of Katie's experience.
