Levine Disney Picture

I'm the cute one. The other kid is my older brother Josh, whom I just love to tease. Oh, you can't see the horns coming from the top of my head? Look closer... The others in the picture are my parents. Here is my story:

My name is Jason and I'm 17 years old. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on February 28th, 2000. I went into the hospital on the 24th, I spent 2 weeks in the hospital. The hospital stay was not fun but most of the people were nice except for one real mean nurse. After my stay at the hospital things got a lot better. Sometimes I have to say at home because my counts are too low or because I just don't feel well, but most of the time things have been ok. I now go into an Adult Onc clinic for my treatments and check ups. I like my Onc and all the nurses and staff, they treat me nice. I know that I have a long way to go to get completely better. I'm going to beat this Monster. Jason

As you can see Jason had a very friendly personality. He loved life and enjoyed being with people. Jason was considered Globally Developmentally Delayed, but don't let this fool you. Once people got to know him they realized just how smart Jason truly was.

Jason had many struggles and triumphs in his life. At the age of 27 months, Jason had his first of many Grand Mal Seizures. Most of these seizures put him in the hospital over night. He had to struggle with language, social skills, motor problems (both large & small) just to name a few. Jason had his Bar Mitzvah at the age of 14. He did most of the service in both Hebrew and English. Many said he couldn't do it. He did it!

Jason enjoyed video games and computer games. Jason was a great baker. If you wanted pancakes in the morning, cookies for a bake sale or even Challah for Shabbat, he was always there waiting to help. Jason also enjoyed taking pictures either up at camp, on our vacations or even just messing around at home. Jason was a member of the Special Olympics. He participated in Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball and many other sports. Jason participated in Special Olympic state games as well as regional ones. Jason wanted to try gymnastics but this adventure never came to be.

Right before Jason became ill he went for yet another goal. He was able to go part time to a regular High School campus for ROP. Jason loved going and was doing very well in the class. Jason wanted to work in a store like his father.

Jason was an active member of his school dance team, The Hi Tops . In June of '99, the Dance team went to North Carolina for the World Special Olympic Games. Even though Jason was not feeling very well during the trip, he never missed a performance. He somehow managed to get on that stage no mattter how awful he was feeling.

Jason was diagnosed in February 2000 with A.L.L. Jason did go into remission a month later on March 28, 2000. But on September 19, 2000 we were told Jason was no longer in remission. It was then that Jason's struggle truly began. Jason spent most of the next four months in the hospital trying very hard to beat this monster that was taking over. It was during this time that Jason got his wish. A trip to Disney World in Florida. Somehow Jason made this the best trip ever for all of us.

Even when in pain and things were looking low, Jason never never wanted to give up. Giving up was just not his style.

On December 26, 2000 (29th of Kislayv 5761) Jason lost his battle. Below is our final tribute to OUR ANGEL OUR HERO.

Hi Tops Friends

Boys At Game

Jason told us he loved us very much. Jason told me of his beautiful dreams. He dreamt of places that were fun like his trips to Disney. He dreamt that he was having parties with girls, lots of girls. He dreamt of places where you got cured of illness. This is where he kept going the last few days. He would go and come, go and come until Tuesday morning when he made his final trip to this beautiful place. Jason always said he was our Angel. On Tuesday December 26th, 2000 around 2:00 a.m., he truly became Our Precious Angel. Jason will always be remembered as our Angel our Hero. Mom, Dad, & Josh.

This web site will be left up in Loving Memory of a Son, A Brother, and a Beautiful friend.
