Taking Tea

Home ] Up ] [ Tea Listing ] Tea Recipes ] Tea Tips ] Benefits of tea ]

In my efforts to find a place for a friend to host her daughter's birthday party, I found out that there are plenty of restaurants, hotels, inns. shop and tea rooms that serve tea. I then realized maybe others are looking for a place where they too can enjoy the pleasure of 'taking tea'. So,  here's my list of what I've found so far. I plan to update often. I have listed them by location. To date, I only have the US and Canada listed. The reviews are not all mine. most are written as they were submitted. Please feel free to Tea mail me if you know of any other places.

I've just had to update my pages.  In the process I received some mail to add tea rooms to my listing.  Please check to make sure your listing is there.  If not please email me again.

Thanks,

Lisa

The Teapot Tea Room is a delightful spot! The tea selection is impressive, they have black teas, seasonal teas, decaf teas, green teas, and herbals. They present you with two double sided menus listing their tea selections. The owners, Sharon and Leslie, are always charming and informative. Just ask a question about any of the teas or ask for a recommendation, they are always happy to help. The tea is served in a pot, with a strainer and it is cheerfully refilled upon request.
They offer lunch and a variety of afternoon tea options. My favorite is the Royal Soup Tea, served in four courses. It starts with a delicious bowl of soup, which you choose from two daily selections. My favorite is the Butternut Apple Sage, my daughter loves the Italian Wedding Soup. The next course is the scone. Leslie prepares fresh scones each day and they will melt in your mouth. The scone is served with cream and jam. The sandwich plate contains an assortment of fresh and tasty tidbits. They often have a chicken salad, cucumber, turkey, pimento cheese and my favorite -- the ham, cream cheese, and apricot jam on wheat. The sandwich plate usually contains fruit bread too. Each sandwich is a bite- size tidbit but the entire plate is full. Finally, comes the dessert course. They prepare a selection of homemade desserts each day and also offer wonderful fruit sorbets. Sometimes dessert is a lovely pound cake with fresh fruit, a to die for lemon meringue pie, or something sinfully chocolate. There is usually a choice of three to four desserts on any given day.

The Teapot also hosts "SpecialTeas" one Sunday a month, a themed five-course tea with party favors. So far, I have attended a Mardi Gras Tea, an Apple Tea, and a Fortune Telling Tea, and I am looking forward to the Sunshine Tea next June!
The Teapot Tea Room is housed in the same building as an antique shop. The tearoom is small, seating about twenty people at a time. I have been to tearooms across New England and in England and my favorite tearoom is the Teapot. It has the best combination of quality tea, delicious food, and delightful tea-related gifts, and the owners could not be more pleasant!

A quaint place to have tea. It's English atmosphere is authentic. Although, its rather small and on weekends there is up to a 20 minute wait, or longer if you have more than 2 people in your party. The best part of it is that they have a shop next door where you can purchase teas, teapots and many other tea related items.    http://www.teaandsympathynewyork.com/

The Wild Lily Tearoom

What a pretty tea room! When you walk in there is a small lily pond. It's a small place but it looks much bigger. The tables and benches are light wood. All around the tea room are pottery teapots and cups that are for sale (very expensive). Each tea we ordered was served in a different and unique little teapot and cups. Service was very attentive.

Robinson's Tea Room 97 E. Main Street, Stony Brook, Long Island, New York.
phone number 631-751-1232.
My friend and I went to High Tea at Robinson's Tea Room on a Saturday
afternoon. The room was decorated in English Victorian style. It had
different teacups and saucers all around. My friend's family is from
England and she loved it too. She said it was very authentic. The food was
freshly made and delicious. It consisted of different kinds of finger
sandwiches, wonderful scones, devonshire cream, fruit tarts, chocolate
covered strawberries and an edible orchid was placed on top. The variation
of tea was remarkable and we found several blends we loved. We sat at a
small table for two in front of a beautifully decorated picture window.
High Tea is served from 12 - 1pm or after 3pm. We highly recommend it for a calm, relaxed conversation and great food.
