Cathy Schwab was one of the first friends I made at Appalachian Bible College.  I remember my first impression of her.  She was dressed in a long broomstick-type skirt and had a multi-coloured scarf tied around her head to hold back her hair.  I thought she was odd.  I soon learned whe was from New York, and in my mind that explained everything.  I soon found out that we had  a lot of common interests, and pretty much thought on the same wavelenght.  Kind of scary.  She quickly became my confidante.  I learned later that the Dean of Women had been concerned about me (I was very quiet and not very social), and as my Resident Assistant it was to her that the Dean expressed her concerns.  Cathy eased her mind by explaining that I was 'eccentric.'  That was a definite case of the pot calling the kettle black.  It was Cathy that helped me be more confident in being myself.  She understood and accepted my 'eccentricity.'  I found that I enjoyed it, because that's who I am.

Cathy is now serving in France as a missionary, working in church planting with women and teens.  I miss her a great deal, but would rather she be serving God as He directs her.
And ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
