Life in Kenya

From September 2003- December 2005, I served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Narok, Kenya. That's me on the left there, standing in front of Mt. Longonot, a former volcano located in the Rift Valley an hour from the capital city of Nairobi.

Serving in the Peace Corps was the most challenging, maddening, exhilirating, frustrating, thrilling, and rewarding time of my life. During my service, I sent out a weekly e-mail newsletter to friends and family detailing my experience. Check out some excerpts or just look at the pictures.

Kiswahili Simplified This is the start of a Kiswahili tutor I started and got bored with. It used the book Simplified Swahili by Peter M. Wilson as a guide. Lesson 1 and 2 were almost complete, plus I wrote a Java applet available at the end of Lesson 1.

Kenyan English Survival Guide - published in The Maz, the Peace Corps Kenya humor newsletter, it was originally written for my dad and step-mom on their visit to Kenya.
