"Grandma in Texas" is usually how we referred to her as kids. I was always a bit jealous of my cousin who lives near her. My sister and I looked forward to her traditional Christmas gifts of Barbies every year. Little did we know, she was building a monstrous collection of her own which she had started before I was even born. The ones she kept, she carefully wrapped in vinyl and placed in a large set of wooden cabinets. That is why the dolls are all in mint condition and most are NRFB. (I think the ones that were not NRFB are all sold...) She also designed and made her own Barbie sized dresses and displayed them in her house (on Barbies of course). A few years ago, she divided them up at Christmas for my sister, two of my cousins and me. These are my favorite, because she made them. A couple of years later, she decided to sell the collection. The whole cabinet set was sent up from Texas to Kansas to my house. I am kind of sad to be helping her sell her collection, but one good chapter in our lives is sure to be followed by another. Grandma knows Barbies. Hers have been treated well and stored safely. I hope that they all reach good homes.
