For the honeymoon, we've decided on St. Martin in the French West Indies. We did lots of research on the Internet, and talked with a few travel agents before making our decision. We couldn't resist the lure of the sun and sea. We're also looking forward to being able to practice our French language skills while we're there. Well, we're looking forward to more than just that of course! Here are links to some of the many websites we visited, including one by Don Trotter, who was so nice to give us his insight and comments via e-mail.
Le Petit Hotel - We decided on this boutique hotel because it seems to offer the best of all worlds. It's right on the beach, with access to all kinds of water-sports. It's an extremely small hotel, so it doesn't have its own dining room. However, it's within walking distance of a variety of restaurants. We especially liked the idea of not being just one couple among 1,000 in one of the huge resort hotels.
Don Trotter's St. Martin Page - We were lucky that one of our many Internet searches pointed us to this personal website on St. Martin. We wrote to Don asking for his opinion and recommendations, and he was kind enough to respond with great suggestions. Don's page includes more links to websites that focus on St. Martin.
West Indies Online - Although there were many commercial travel sites, we liked this one best, as it provided lots of good information, was easy to navigate, and offered more photographs of various hotels than most of the other travel sites.
(We hope to be making lots of footprints in the St. Martin sand!)
