Beginning Again

My romantic soul
loves the fantasy
of cuddling
by the fire
after the passion is spend
enjoying the afterglow
as the flames flicker

My realistic body
says the draft
is cooling my back
while my hips cramp
causing spasms of pain
as the fire dies down.

Young souls in old bodies
are better off
cuddling up in bed
with the lights out,
allowing comforting fantasies
to keep the dream alive.
