Happy New Year, y'all!
.
Read in the past week:
Laurell K. Hamilton's
  • Circus of the Damned
  • Blue Moon
  • Narcissus In Chains
  • The Laughing Corpse
  • Obsidian Butterfly
  • Now I'm all caught up except for the last two novels (Cerulean Sins and Incubus (something or another), although I have to admit I'm not too thrilled with the way the series is going with Narcissus In Chains - this isn't going to turn something like Jean Auel's books, is it? "Ayla invents everything when she can take her hands off of Jon for two seconds..."
I like Anita when she's imperfect, human and smartassed. I certainly hope this thing with the arduer is very temporary. I'm already tired of "Anita does just about everybody."

COUNTDOWN TO THE NATIONAL HOLIDAY KNOWN AS MY BIRTHDAY: 3 DAYS

Wow - a brand new year. 2005, huh? It seems it wasn't that long ago when I thought the arrival of the year 2000 felt like such an impossibility and now we're five years into a new millenium.

    Like I said - wow.

One decision I've made for the new year involves this journal - I'm not going to neglect it like I did this past year. Yes, Yes, I know that I'm three days into the thing and just now getting around to writing. I did a stupid thing: I fell into the trap of thinking I had to write something extraordinarily brilliant, clever or wise every time I sat down. Forget about writing about me, my life or those in it.

    See what I mean? Stupid.

So, in the interest of being real, here is what happened today:

    Did you get that?

Maybe I'll hear something tomorrow about my semi-annual trek into financial aid land at school. Tomorrow is supposed to be the due date on fees, only I haven't heard anything about my over-ride request. On second thought, it looks like I'll be making a trip to school, or at least a phone call.

    All together now: yaaay.

The cats are outside again after spending several nights in the house during that cold snap a week ago. It got interesting while they were in the house. I guess there are worse things than waking up with eight cats in the bed with you. A person sure couldn't freeze to death, that's for sure. Having them in the house turned out to be a bonding experience too - I didn't feel that I got to spend much time with them, other than to feed them twice a day, while I was in class.

Still, I'm glad they are outside for a little while. I need some space after a while - even a cat gets to be too much at times. Heh - I can hear them on the roof. It sounds like a miniature herd running wild out there.

Think I'll go back out there and listen to the world in a bit. Wonder if the owls are still around?
