About Our Wedding

We get e-mail on a regular basis asking about our wedding and how we did various things. I am going to begin building a section that has a lot more pictures and hints with the hopes that it will help other people and spur creative ideas for their own special day.

These are the toasting goblets we used for our wedding. They are made by a wonderful pewtersmith based in Oakland, California, by the name of Fellowship Foundry. Randy is the metalsmith and Kevin is the talented artist. This pair is Romeo and Juliet. You might notice that their clothing makes the shape of a heart between them. In the picture they are set together so that they are really holding hands. Kevin will hand engrave the couples name and the wedding date on the bottom of each for a very minimal fee as well.

Oh, and if you break the glass (like we did the during the reception) you can mail the goblet back to them and they will replace the glass!

And here is the wedding invitation we mailed out:

I drew the floral border, using some books I found in the library about illuminated manuscripts. The couple was adapted from a black and white picture I found in a costuming book. The text and my finished artwork was type-set by a local printer. To save money we purchased the our own card stock from Kelly Paper which we provided to the printer. Kelly Paper is a local supplier of paper and card stock to printers. We also purchased matching envelopes from them.

Once the invitations were printed, I hand painted in the metallic gold border around the T using a special paint felt pen. (Avaliable in most art and craft stores, get a fine tip!). Then the invitation was folded in thirds and a 1/8" pink satin ribbon was tied around it. It looked very nice finished. I used calligraphy to address the envelopes.

More to Come!
