Berlin, Germany
Simon, Frank and I went to Berlin in August 1999. Although I had been there before, it was about ten years ago (just after the fall of the wall). I wanted to see what had changed. It was Simon and Frank's first time there.
I took so many photos in Berlin that I've spread them over several pages. On this page, there are photos of the trip there and the nice hotel we stayed at.
This is Simon and Frank waiting patiently for the train (as you do).
This is the train we took. It's a ICE (InterCity Express). On the trip to Berlin, the maximum speed was 250kph, which isn't slow really. The trip took a little more than four hours.
When we got to Berlin, we tried to find the hotel, but because the lady who booked the trip for us gave us wrong directions (thanks!), we wandered round (the former East) Berlin for about an hour before we got hungry. We found a Burger King...
We finally made it to the hotel. Because I've taken some photos of Simon looking staunch outside every hotel we've stayed at, it will now be a regular feature of every trip.
The hotel room was about twice as big as the photo suggests. The hotel (Courtyard by Marriott) was pretty much brand new, and really nice.
The room was nice, but the view from the hotel room to the river was nicer.
This is the view we had at breakfast.
