Action for REACH OUT was developed to show concern for and assist women working within the Commercial Sex Industry (CSI) in Hong Kong including women coming to Hong Kong from other countries. Their main goal is to encourage them to form a support network among themselves.

Services Provided
Organize outreach with the women in several districts where the CSI is popular. Offer them information on HIV/AIDS, limited legal advice and support groups in their home countries.
Act as a referral agency on health screening and AIDS/STD testing, temporary shelter, counselling service and other needed services.
Hotline which is open to all women working in CSI who need advice, counselling or just an open, non-judgmental person to talk to.
Provide a drop-in center where women can turn in times of need and where educational classes and programs on a variety of issues such as HIV/AIDS awareness will be held.
Research on the needs of these women and cooperate with the Health Department to confront the issue of HIV/AIDS in relation to commercial sex workers.

AIDS Concern is a grass-roots organization whose main aim is to generate extensive community involvement in the provision of AIDS education and support services through trained volunteers.

Services Provided
Helpline Service -- it provides AIDS information and counselling service to the general public. It operates from 7:00p.m. to 10:00 p.m. every Thursday & Saturday. Helpline number : 2898-4422.
Buddy Service -- it provides support services to People Living With AIDS (PWAs) and their family members.
Transport Service -- provide transport for PWAs to and from hospitals/clinics and home.
Education Service -- provide internal trainings to volunteers and also organize outreach education programs to gay people, female sex workers and Asian migrant workers.
Library -- a resource center with books, leaflets, videos, magazines and educational materials for teachers, students, volunteers, PWAs and people who are interested in reading more on the subject of AIDS/HIV.

The HIV Information & Drop-In Center is a non-profit making and community based organization. The Center is operating under the St John's Cathedral and was opened in September 1995. The aim of the Center is to raise public awareness towards HIV/AIDS, to befriend people who are affected by HIV/AIDS and to help limit the spread of AIDS by educating the general public about this epidemic.

Services Provided
To provide information on HIV/AIDS and other health issues (e.g. sexually transmitted diseases, Hepatitis, etc)
To offer face-to-face counselling by appointment to anyone who is affected by HIV/AIDS.
To provide education programmes and training to our own volunteers and to organizations within the community.
To facilitate arranging memorial services (through St John's Cathedral) and to provide spiritual support to people who have lost someone to AIDS.
To organize outreach programmes.
To network and refer service users to others agencies.
To offer free confidential legal advice on HIV/AIDS related matters.

Hong Kong AIDS Memorial QUILT PROJECT

Through the display of the Memorial Quilts, the Project raises awareness of HIV/AIDS. In the making of the quilt, it also encourages support and acceptance of PWAs, their families and friends; provides a space to release grief; celebrates life in a positive and creative way. The Quilt can be viewed as an educational tool with the message not only of the risks of HIV but also the value of human life.

TEEN AIDS' goal is to prevent youth from becoming infected with HIV/AIDS through health education in a user friendly way, such as games and art. Its targets include young people, parents and teachers.

HIV/AIDS School Awareness Programmes -- to train school teachers to run their own courses and activities on AIDS/HIV in school and to provide speakers to facilitate the workshops in school.
Peer Education Project -- includes Life Skill Training which runs workshops on Sex/AIDS issues in boys'/girls' homes, youth center etc; AIDS ART Workshop which trains professional artists to lead youth to run Art workshop on AIDS, and then present to the public; Internal training for volunteers.
Publish resource books and study materials and also monthly articles on AIDS education in daily newspaper.
Qualified psychologists, social workers and educators are conduction researches on AIDS education to youth.
